Does the stuff I say honeslty get some people worked up? I hope not..

I would hope not. I guess some people need to realize it is just a message board.

Wondering if anyone has received their Final Five renewal packet? I remember getting it around this time last year. Two years ago mine never came and I had to renew. I am just trying to be proactive and call if they have screwed this up again.

We never got ours two years ago either. I just assumed it was because we moved.

(We haven't gotten our renewal yet either)

We haven't gotten ours either. They should be here in a few weeks. I didn't think they came out until the first or second week of October and was due in the middle/end of November.

This is a painful report from an observer over on the Minnesota HS board in a thread started by TEO about Minnesota kids getting looks by SCSU....

"It might not be who's getting looks as much as who might not be going there. Joey Benik playing for the MN owls in the MNJHL. I saw him play the other night, there were 3-4 kid's on both teams better than him... He can't or won't play defense, even the coach was yelling at him to get back. He would take one or two hard strides and then coast till he got to the blue line and then circle around waiting for a pass, never covering his man. Hopefully his coach will get him going, he does have good speed and nice hands."

Good call, just did a quick search and it was 10/10/08 that I had received it in the mail.

Wait... so he's got long, shaggy hair, he's got a real scoring touch, he's on the smallish side, and he doesn't play defense? So.... we found Ryan Lasch's replacement?

Anybody else go to the NAHL Showcase tourney at Schwan Super rink? Boomer and me went on Thursday PM. Plenty of celebs and MILF.

I went with the kiddo for an hour and a half Wednesday night while the missus was grocery shopping... Rud was there checking out the NTDP game.

Eh, didn't see much D from him last year, didn't expect it to change in one year.
At best right now he's a 2011 recruit who's a project so I'll wait till he hits the USHL (and he's still listed on Fargo's roster for some reason) before I worry about his play.

That has been the knock on him. If he doesn't learn to play both ends of the ice he is never going to make it. This kid has talent, but in my view has made a poor choice not playing in the elite league. I am not sure who is advising him, but they can't be very smart.

I'm not even as concerned about the no-D as I am about the observation from this guy that there were at least 3 or 4 kids on the ice better than him.... IN A MJHL GAME!!.

His team is 2-0-0-1 and he's leading them in scoring with two goals and three ASSISTS in three games. Stats might not be everything... but they're something. I think the high school message board poster MAY have some sort of vendetta.

Everybody needs to relax. The kid will make it eventually, just a little longer because of the choices he's making.

FYI, they gave his number away in Fargo... he will not be one with the Force.

Joey has 2 practice seasons ahead of him, and that poster on the HS forum was probably a gopher fan..

One person's opinion doesn't mean it's true.
He's a project, long term development type kid.
At this point who cares what an anonymous poster on a high school board thinks, he's put up numbers which is his game so he's doing fine at what he does.

Of course he will make it. The question is how much will his choices hurt him?

Depends on the person who said it. I would never read some random message board and take anything anyone says on there as gospel unless I have an idea if they know what they are talking about.

They won't hurt him, just delay him. That is, unless you consider NOT getting drafted in his first year of eligibility as "hurting him". He could still get drafted in 2011 if he has a solid year in the USHL after high school, but odds are, he's a free agent from here on out.

A pretty good poster on the high school message board is suggesting that Andrew Prochno of Minnetonka may have committed to SCSU over the weekend. Prochno is an extremely prolific scorer from the blueline, more so than future goofer Holl or future BADger Hesketh. He isn't as big (or probably as defensively sound) as those two, but regardless, he'd be a nice get if it pans out to be true. If the Mr. Hockey pattern of AA defensemen continues (five years and counting), he's definately in the running.

Edit: he is on team Southwest for the elite league

09-10 Season Preview (http://www.stcloudstate.edu/athletics/sports/hockey-mens/story.asp?pubID=36&issueID=24539&storyID=29503)

Euro will want to avert his eyes at the second half of the story. This will prevent any injuries possibly sustained when he immediately starts trying to hump his monitor after (or while) reading about Garret Raboin. :D
