For the UConn fans - not counting the exhibition game against Prince Edward Island, RPI has played two games, losing both to UMass by scores of 6-1 and 3-1. Three first-period power-play goals helped the Minutemen blow the first game open early. RPI did a better job of staying out of the box on Saturday and managed to keep the score closer, as it was a 2-1 game until the final two minutes.

The Engineers have not had a lot of success scoring goals. RPI’s leading and, in fact, only goal scorer has been Slovakia native Jakub Lacka, who scored in each game. Unfortunately, Lacka left Saturday night’s game with an injury, so it is questionable whether he will be available to face UConn on Saturday night.

For the RPI fans - in their only game played to date, UConn defeated Army at West Point, 5-2. Note that Army came back the next night to defeat Merrimack, 3-2.

The Huskies’ stars of the game sound like an Eastern European smorgasbord. Their leading scorers were Ruslan Ishakov (1G, 1A), Alexander Payusov (1G, 1A), and Jachym Kondeli (2A). Adam Huska had a solid game in goal with 30 saves on 32 shots.

UConn will play twice more before facing RPI on Saturday night, with road games against Quinnipiac on Tuesday night and Providence on Friday night. Providence is a league game for UConn and the Friars were ranked # 4 in the country prior to their loss in the Ice Breaker final to # 2 Notre Dame. This might be a bit of a break for RPI, as the Huskies may not muster up as much intensity for a winless non-league opponent on Saturday as they will for a highly-ranked league opponent on Friday.

Never a good thing to see.......
Brandon Pirri: Turk would give it to Jagr. That's awesome! Jagr's untouchable. And he would give it to Jagr.
