  • First 3 years of NCHC Stats

Thought I would take a deep look at the first three years of NCHC play, with some interesting stats on the performance of the teams.

    Successful Programs:
    UND
    Denver
    St. Cloud

    Moderate Success:
    UMD
    Omaha
Miami - arguably the biggest loser in this realignment for this program

    Struggling:
    Western Michigan
    CC

Any thoughts from everyone on the NCHC since inception. I think Miami, CC, Western Michigan have to be wondering how great of a deal this was for them. CC was tail-spinning before this transition I suppose but Western and Miami have clearly struggled in the new conference. Makes you wonder if being the WCHA would be preferred. Look at how that worked for Mankato. I think what this proved is that you can't build a conference of all winners. Instead of everyone regressing to the mean with a bunch of .500 records, we've seen a similar situation to most conferences: a few dominant teams, a couple in the middle, and a few towards the bottom. Really amazing the conference records that UND, Denver, and SCSU have. Although you can point to the Conference tournament as a sign of more parity.
