Buy Boeing Dreamlifter, install locker room and sheet of ice in cargo bay, team warms up on approach, transported to rink to play game, team showers on plane post-game (during taxi).

Generally, the teams operate on a "fly in 24 hours before puck drop" schedule.

      Officially, per the NHL CBA:
      16.8 Travel Requirements.
      (a) No Club shall be required to travel on the day of an NHL Game if the average scheduled flight time for the airplane on which the Club would travel is greater than two and one-half (2 1/2) hours; provided, however, the foregoing shall not be applicable if the Club has played an NHL Game on the day before.
      (b) Players shall be entitled to have a minimum of nine (9) hours "off" overnight between the time that they arrive at the team's hotel on a road trip and the time that they are next
obligated to report for practice or another work-related activity or meeting. The above rule shall not apply where extraordinary circumstances make it unfeasible (e.g., unforeseeable travel delays, practice rink availability issues, etc.).

16.9 Single Room Accommodations. Any Player on an SPC who is not in the Entry Level System shall be entitled to single room accommodations for all Club road trips.
So, get ready to have "2010 Blackhawks at Roxy's" shenanigans reported about every team in the league!

If I'm a coach, I don't let my team stay on or near the Strip. There's plenty of quality hotel options that are specifically marketed as a relaxing resort well away from the Strip. The only problem would be proximity to practice rink(s) which I don't know the location of. But even that said, I wouldn't let my team anywhere near the Strip or downtown except for the game itself.

The practice rink is going to be located West of the 215 close to the Red Rock resort. Heard it was being modeled like UND.

I find it laughable that so many make a big deal of Vegas nightlife. Like they can't find trouble in New York or LA or Miami or Dallas or Phoenix or Atlanta or New Orleans. Players have even gotten arrested in Milwaukee! As for Casino action, there are 3 large casinos within a reasonable walk of Joe Louis arena in Detroit. If you want to find trouble, you can find it anywhere you go.

This. The boogeyman arguments the NCAA and others use against Las Vegas and gambling in general are nonsense. The mob ain't running the casinos anymore, there's no crooked and narrow going on.

That said, I'd still want my team staying off the Strip and avoiding the distractions if I were in charge. While you can absolutely get in trouble in any city, Las Vegas is the most prominent in terms of external distractions.

Re: UNLV next? NHL franchise adds momentum.

Speaking of UNLV, I think it could be a real possibility. I looked up the Engelstad Faimly Foundation donations and they are a rather large donor for UNLV Club Hockey. For instance, the foundation gave them $114,00 in 2014. We all know what Ralph did at UND, maybe they would like to help UNLV start a program. Not saying they would put up all the money, but this relationship certainly doesn't hurt...

Ah, but that's the difference. In Las Vegas, trouble finds you.
That community is already in the process of dissolution where each man begins to eye his neighbor as a possible enemy, where non-conformity with the accepted creed, political as well as religious, is a mark of disaffection; where denunciation, without specification or backing, takes the place of evidence; where orthodoxy chokes freedom of dissent; where faith in the eventual supremacy of reason has become so timid that we dare not enter our convictions in the open lists, to win or lose.

Good point, totally agree. And BTW those Detroit casinos are even a closer walk to the new arena (I believe).

I don't care about the gambling angle, but have zero confidence the NHL will succeed in Vegas.

Yep. Ever since Moe Green, Fredo Corleone, and Hyman Roth got whacked, everything's been legit. The senator assured me so!!

Strangely enough, despite an initial urge to disagree, I think you're probably going to be proven correct.

Actually, Motor City Casino is close to the new barn. Greektown is about midway in between and the MGM is closer to the Joe.
