Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-16 - The post-season journey...

[QUOTE=MarkEagleUSA;6295631]It's absurd and embarrassing yet again... the ECAC web site says:
ECAC Hockey has partnered with American Sports Network (ASN) to televise the 2016 semifinals and championship game March 18-19 at the 1980 Rink - Herb Brooks Arena, Lake Placid N.Y.]/quote]From what I can tell, Friday is being streamed (or I just can't find it being carried locally). The championship game on Saturday is being carried here on SNY and CW. If anyone finds Friday's games, give a holler.

There is a fan bus ($20 prepaid and non-refundable) for Friday, leaving Hamden at 8 am and leaving LP 30 minutes after our game ends. If we win, there will be another bus for Saturday leaving at 11 am. It's tempting... very tempting.
There is a local channel covering the game on Verizon FIOS in Port Chester NY, it's something like channel 481, I think it's the Arise network? Never heard of it, but it's on my cable listing. I don't know if that channel is offered in CT. I would assume more networks will sign on in CT, now that Quinnipiac is confirmed. Might not get that news for a few days.

Still doesn't excuse the ECAC doing it the way they have the past few years. Two of the last four national champions, a steady stream of tourney appearances, and they can't get a decent TV package for the championship weekend. Not to mention the officiating we have to endure.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-16 - The post-season journey...

And what the heck were the pollsters smoking this weekend? I have no problem with North Dakota being on top because they certainly deserve it. I just don't understand how so many votes swung their way. We played a tough Cornell team ranked in the top 20 in both the poll and the PWR, losing one game but winning the series. NoDak swept a weak Colorado College that's in the bottom tier of D-1 this season. I could see the votes evening out with a couple of vote advantage to NoDak... but to swing 20 something votes? Makes no sense.

As I've said in the past, the poll means nothing. In this case, however, I question it only because I'm curious...

The USA Today poll, we were split up by one vote, which is pretty incredible. Whatever, it doesn't mean anything. Only one poll matters, frankly.

As for what they were thinking, perhaps some of them are aligning themselves with the Pairwise?

You can watch the game in San Diego, but not in CT unless you put up an antenna, what a joke.

The ECAC just doesn't get it trying market their teams via a quality tv package. While we have many great teams they are behind the times in marketing. Pathetic.

I mean, just put it on ESPN3 and be done with it.

Oh, but they can't do that -- then they wouldn't be able to gouge their fans for $10/game.

Emailed Commissioner Krajewski tonight, prompt reply with hopefully some progress.

We have a meeting with ASN tomorrow.

They told us that outlets in NY and New England will be added. I will pose the question on the call.

We wanted to get some info our there on the broadcast as fans have been calling…

                      Stay tuned.

                      Thanks.

That would be good news, though it doesn't solve the bigger problem of putting these games on "ASN" in the first place. Hockey East gets NBCSN, NCHC gets CBS Sports Network, Big 10 has their own network. Even the WCHA has FS North, which I assume can be shared with other FOX Sports affiliates depending on who's playing ... and we get syndicated networks that may or may not even be in HD, much less may or may not be available on our cable providers. For the best league in the country. It's asinine.

I thought it was just me that could not find a network in CT that had Friday's games on the list of stations published - unless I reverted to 1975 and put up an antenna.

Maybe the ECAC could maybe use some new blood on the executive board level? More progressive thinkers that can really move the league forward from a marketing perspective? The Asst Commissioner is responsible for the marketing of the league and one could make an argument that he has really failed at capitalizing on back to back National Championships for the ECAC. I mean ASN? Boxcast? Give me a break.

Is there a way to get in contact with the offices of people that can make a change? I think if they were to get flooded by complaints they might work on something better for the fans. Actually, who cares about the fans. Do it for the players, they deserve to be seen in every way/chance possible.

Email the Asst. Commissioner , ekrajewski@ecachockey.com at least will respond and answer questions. Even if the reply is "thanks for the feedback" at least your voice will be heard. I actually recommended that they look at Channel 20 or CPTV as an outlet in Ct, that is the question he will pose to ASN today.
