Losing 1-0 to sweden, fine. But the foolish penalties and mental mistakes need to be cleaned up.

This. And, really, they played pretty darn well in these 2 tough games, other than the powerplay today going 0-fer.

If Canada beats Sweden, we need to run up the goals on Denmark and the Swiss.

Why? being #1 in our group might not be an advantage if it means facing a Russian team that sleptwalked through the early games (as an example)?

Some have said the US didn't bring their best eligible players. Who would be an improvement and who would they replace?

They basically chose not to take any scoring punch on the 3rd and 4th lines.

This article nailed it. I mentioned the lack of the Connor's a few day ago. Take the best available players and win the friggin tournament. If they all happen to be 19 year olds, so be it too. The mind set is amazing.

Russia's on 5 points after 2 games; they're not sleepwalking.

This year, maybe this year the sleepwalker is Finland or Slovakia? Looking at the bracket, wouldn't you rather finish 2nd? Then you'd guarantee not playing Sweden or Canada til a medal is on the line? Might result in you having to play 1B...but idk. Hard to say overall that where they finish is that important...What I really like is the early adversity for the team. That can really help propel a team in this tournament. Starting against Canada and Sweden really sets the bar high for this team on knowing what they need to do.

I'd tend to agree. The #1 seed probably means a little more in the other group, as you get your first game against likely Denmark who will be a cut below the rest of the field. But for group A, the #1 seed is still going to have to play a pretty good Slovakian or Finnish or Czech team.

I'd have loved to see the U.S. win today, but...what can you say? They played a really good game and the better team didn't win. Sometimes that happens in hockey. When you look at the few posts hit and couple of outstanding saves by the Swedish netminder, it's hard to be too critical of the team.

My only complaint, really, was how the U.S. struggled to establish any net-front presence. Soderstrom made all the first saves, but there were a number of rebound opportunities that the U.S. only managed to snip and poke at. The Swedish defense prevented the U.S. from holding any sort of presence and limited them to just sort of flashing across the front of the net.

Not having Connor Garland on team is a disgrace. Trying to showcase all of these underage natl program kids for draft is sickening
Czech Rep adds Pasternak late, US should add Garland now. Scoring issue will be fixed

This is a 96 year event, picking from 97 and 98's is laughable

Garland should be on first line with Milano and Matthews

Is it about winning or promoting for draft?

                              Or promoting the NTDP?

It's always about the NTDP ... and BC could have used Colin White yesterday in Florida
