nice test for team early in the season can they put up O and combine with good D? will the sophs continue to lead or will others step up? Leo needs to play solid too.

Another split.... nothing showing this is a potential playoff team so far.

One tie out of last place... scoring is a problem and Leo is not having another AA season so far. The systems for recruiting to off ice conditioning to game prep to facilities are suspect. Is LFC a place to play hockey or is JS just happy to coast? The girls are on a role.....

Guess there are a lot of views but no passion in this program.

What is wrong with the facilities? They have an updated main lobby, new banners hanging in the rink, and new scoreboards (all completed in the past year).

Lighting is very poor with dead spots, the ice needs better care, goals always come off, dead spots on the boards.... to name a few. How about making it a great facility for the players (boys and girls) before cosmetics!

Tough weekend playing to ranked teams a great defensive stand is needed in both games to attempt a split. Hope LP stands on his head and we get some goal production from upper classes.

Merry Christmas to all you viewers, maybe Santa will distribute some stones and people will post. There is lots of interest in the program attested by those looking, unfortunately the teams, schools, AD's edict that no dissent is overtly expressed is alive and well. Institutional peter principle with the objective on not being too bad is the rule. There are plenty of schools that succeed at both academics and athletics, I read that Adrian has a fishing team that is better supported and funded than the hockey team. Come on there has to be some opinions. Pat is a good coach, but is he the guy to take the team to a whole new level? Tops in DIII recruit from totally different leagues. Where are the wonderful academically smart hockey players?

Well as we start a new year maybe the hush from the lurkers can comment on this topic.....

The Big Ten, as a conference, is the entity that submitted legislation into the NCAA pipeline that would lower the age maximum for incoming college hockey freshmen.

So if this happens will DIII programs get even slimmer talent picking? Why is there Junior hockey in the first place?

                            Re: Lfc 2015

All right. I saw your team this weekend. Here's what I think you've got:

Not much, I'm afraid. It appears that the major reason for your success was due to Podolsky having a banner year last season. This year his GAA and save percentage are both off significantly. Frankly, Podolsky was not good this weekend on either night. He was pulled on Friday night, and after we broke Argiropoulos today, Podolsky wasn't overly improved this afternoon in relief. .892 and 3.68 aren't going to get it done. I'd be more worried about the .892 save percentage. That's well below average.

You're just going to have to build, and you're going to need more support from the university. When you have a beautiful campus, with a wonderful student activities center directly across the street from your arena, and then you take your recruits/players into that arena you have, you immediately send the message that hockey is not important to your school. And that's a problem.

Lake Forest College has not had a good program for quite some time now. It's a beautiful campus, in a wonderful area. I would not dispute that you would get a very good education from there. But outside of a couple decent to good seasons (last season and the one a few years back when Coach Fritz got his boys to the MCHA semis), the program has simply not had much success in quite some time.

You can change coaches all you like every couple years, and nothing is going to change. This thing goes far deeper than the man behind the bench. You need to pick a coach and let him build. And the administration and the local fanbase needs to support him. It's not going to happen overnight. It's going to take a few years of hard work and some sustained improvement on the ice. There is no quick answer. This is not a 2-year fix. You cannot compare yourselves to St. Norbert or Adrian. Adrian started from scratch with a brand new first-class facility and complete support from the administration. Coach Coghlin took a few years to build his monster at St. Norbert. You've just simply got some heavy lifting to do.

                              H,
Sounds like you have the situation nailed, I believe many ex-players agree and so do interested outsiders. The administration has the whole athletic department locked down with coaches told to keep quiet. The place is run like a large high school rather than a college with a "legendary" AD running things at a "it's acceptable to be middle of the road" mentality. The pulse of Alumni cannot be that dead !!!

The academics are in place, the money is available .... the political will and competent athletic vision is lacking. Most of the students play a sport, why cannot they compete for a top notch education with top notch athletics? Yes facilities (dorm, eating, sports center, Chicago center) needed to be upgraded and that was priority for what attracts students in the first place education. Will not great athletics attract better athletes, more students and provide a better college experience? What about the vision for athletics?

I know nobody will answer because airing things in a public forum is not the LFC way. How is the old way working for you?..... just see Hammer's description of the consistently poor hockey program, enough said.

Is it possible to have a NETWORK experience within the college? I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore!
