Does this mean he didn't make the USNTDP?

Appears he was borderline participating at NTDP evaluation camp after recovering from a broken leg. Jeff Cox ranked Mastrosimone #10 among the forwards in his camp review (http://www.sbncollegehockey.com/college-hockey-recruiting-ncaa/2017/3/28/15081514/usa-hockey-ntdp-evaluation-camp-prospect-rankings-01s-plymouth-mi-turcotte-zegras-york-warren-knight). Another camp observer thought he looked a bit rusty. He was also ranked among the top 20 on several OHL draft lists, although he eventually went in the 9th round to Missasauga, the same team that drafted Trevor Zegras.

Regardless, it's highly likely that both forwards will become NHL draft picks, which we've now learned is very bad for the BU program.:D

In CHN story, BC recruit calls BU recruit Bowers from USHL the hardest forward to play against:

Interestingly enough, Karow was quick to heap praise on a future college rival when asked who the hardest forward to play against was this past season.

[Boston University recruit] Shane Bowers, said Karow. He combines his size and skill level. He uses his body positioning to protect the puck. Hes the best forward weve played against.

I was looking at some U18 World Championship box scores. Who is Braeden Tkachuk? Or is that just his real name?

Edit: Yeah, I guess it's him. Just didn't look the same in a picture and thought maybe there was a third one.

Watched the U18 semifinals and championship game and all the future Terrier performed quite well. Tkachuk, not surprisingly, combined a high hockey IQ with a bulldog determination (and size) to win puck battles. He should certainly compete for a top six spot next fall, along with Bowers. Cockerill has Cloonan-like speed and hopefully is a better finisher. Made a slick drop pass to send Farabee in for a short-handed goal. Dogged penalty killer. Farrance's game is similar to Krys's--talented skater and puck-mover, strong shot, won physical battle despite being under six feet tall. Farabee won't arrive until 2018. He's a natural goal scorer whose already being mentioned as a potential first-round pick for 2018. Tkachuk is being mentioned as a top 10 pick for 2018. Three guys made the U-17s (Zegras, Vlasic, McCarthy), one other turned apparently down the offer (Cade Webber).

Feature story on 2018 recruit Tyler Weiss, who was second in scoring for the NTDP U17s behind Joel Farabee.

I think it is interesting that Cade Webber was selected #5 in the USHL draft. If he wanted to play in the USHL, seems to me he wouldn't have turned down the USNDTP offer. In that program you play USHL teams while also getting to represent your country in international tournaments.

Good for a year must drive you crazy

Obviously way too early to know, but he doesn't seem to be quite in the same group as Eichel or Keller were. Bowers' game seems to be one where he is solid in all aspects of the game, maybe more like JFK. So while he of course could be a one-and-done, it seems premature to think that it is the most likely outcome. As has been posted, there are far fewer one-and-dones versus two and dones at least in BUs history.

4.5 star prospect Josh Lawrence commits to @TerrierHockey. "A" rated player at @WorldSelectsInv. High skill, IQ, speed, elusiveness, vision https://twitter.com/mplante22/status/867127602233966592

Josh Lawrence committed to @TerrierHockey today. David Quinn and staff continue to dominate the recruiting trail.

Cox also gave him an A rating at the World Selects Invitational U15

Josh Lawrence, #11 West Coast Selects, 1/28/02, Shoots Right, 5-9/165, Moncton, New Brunswick Hes just a natural scorer who can do it all offensively. He plays a complete game and is very smart out there. He sees what might open up and he reads plays well. Hes gritty and competes for everything. Hes an offensive player who is willing to backcheck and force turnovers. Hes a good skater with silky hands.

For fellow old timers out there, Lawrence is almost certainly the first player BU has recruited from Moncton, NB, since Ron Anderson who played on the '71 & '72 NC teams. And the description is more than a bit reminiscent of the way Anderson played. Lawrence is a 2002, so likely to arrive in 2020 with Dylan Petersen, Trevor Zegras, Alex Vlasic, Cade Webber and Braden Doyle in what's shaping up to be a monster class.

Would be the first under DQ, no? I noted a while back that unless I am missing someone, none of his recruits have gone the MJ route, that I can recall. It was relatively common under the Parker, at least over the last decade. Maybe I am missing someone.

I don't count Kole Sherwood, who do to a unique circumstance related to his draft year and not getting drafted, was able to sign with Columbus and then go to whichever MJ team had his rights. I actually don't recall if he was a DQ recruit or Parker, but I remember DQ commenting that they were trying to get a team to draft him so things wouldn't play out the way they did. Somebody with more knowledge can fill in the missing details.

Believe that is correct. Couple of Parker recruits who bolted around 2011, Adam Erne and Anthony DeAngelo, have both reached the NHL. I recall reading that Erne's verbal was a ploy to get his OHL rights traded.

Sherwood was a Steve Greeley discovery. He ended up at OHL London as a teammate of JJ Piccinich, who went to the OHL after BU asked him to return to junior for a season.

Yeah, that guy from Minnesota you said was "well-respected and in-the-know." When Greenway himself came out and said he was coming back, you said that it was news to this reporter and that we shouldn't get our hopes up yet. As if Greenway wasn't a good source on Greenway. Just looking to see if you had an update for us.

When did Bellows say multiple times in public (or even once) that he was coming back?
