So, the Anastos question? Here's the answer. (http://www.lansingstatejournal.com/story/sports/columnists/graham-couch/2016/03/30/couch-column-anastos-returning-msu-hockey/82422382/)

I'm screaming on the inside. I'm screaming on the outside.

Your link didn't show up... That is if you meant to link an article...

Graham Couch also mentions how silly the recruiting is in hockey and I totally agree with him.

Yes it did. You just need to mouse over the "Here's the answer." I hate the upgrade they did here that you now don't see it underlined.

Also details Michigan State's problems.

Michigan State's issues may be more systemic than anything. MSU's Munn Arena is outdated, and the program had ceded the recruiting of high-end talent to neighbor Michigan over the last 15 years. Anastos has not been able to turn that ship back around. In Ron Mason's later years, the team had become more defensive oriented. When Comley took over in 2002, he vowed to return the team to its up-tempo roots. But after a couple of seasons where that didn't work as he hoped, unable to attract the high-end talent needed, Comley went back to grinding it out, and it won him a national title in 2007.

Incredibly, the attitude of Mark Hollis from today's LSJ seems to be one of resignation and defeat. How can we possibly feel upbeat when MSU's 5-year woes "couldn't be helped"? There's an almost willful sense of inaction on the AD's part. He's more than ignoring the almost united cry for Anastos' removal on the boards and social media. He's proclaiming loudly that knowledgeable season ticket holders who are walking out don't count for anything.

Anastos pretty much has Hollis under his spell, and the only counter-measure is intervention and deprogramming.

"Anastos, a former player at Michigan State, was hired in 2011 to replace Rick Comley, after many years as an administrator, most notably commissioner of the CCHA."

Did Adam Wodon get a bulk rate on commas? This is a run-on disaster. But then again, so is the Anastos regime and the excuse list that accompanies it.

“I feel like we’ve got a good system in place to build the type of student-athletes you want to have here,” Hollis told the Lansing State Journal. “Unfortunately you can’t do that in five years."

Oh yeah?

Seems like only yesterday.

Dangerous precedent has been set up in East Lansing. As long as you're buddy-buddy with the AD, your job is safe.

The softball coach and now this. Wonder who gets the boot first?

My guess is that there is barely any outrage over this on social media with sparty fans because their football and basketball teams being good is good enough. If one of the head coaches on those teams retires/heads elsewhere and things go South, my guess is Hollis will meet the same fate his BFF Dave Brandon did.

Also details Michigan State's problems.

If facilities are the issue, it's going to continue to be the issue. The fundraising campaign for renovations has stalled because, surprise!, no one wants to donate hundreds of thousands or millions to a losing program. Since the project went live MSU has seen donations in the millions for projects such as a basketball hall of fame, new golf locker room/facility, renovation of the football practice locker rooms that had already been renovated within the last decade, along with some minor touch ups to the huge renovation project for the football stadium. I'm pretty sure there have been a couple others to basketball during the time frame, also.

All Hollis has done has delayed any opportunity of someone stepping up to the plate with their checkbook.

But really, facilities shouldn't be an excuse. Ewigleben up in Big Rapids surely ain't no palace and they have no trouble putting a team together.

Add Chris Bergeron & Mike Hastings to that list. Although Beegeron hasn't gotten to the NCAA, he's taken a program that was barely alive and made them into a WCHA Contender. And could the failure of some of Comley's recruits (many of which were Newman's recruits) to develop be a reflection on TA's ability to develop talent?

Plenty of outrage, some in this thread but much more in the 'Fire Tom' thread. Also, the LSJ, Freep comment's are full of unhappy campers. The MSU Blueline FB page is full of outrage with the exception of one person, who maybe the head of the BLC. And that's the 'Program support' group. It's there.

I think I'm done giving money in support of hockey. Not that I was a big donor by any means, but any game I go to, if I go at all next season, will be with tickets from a third party or MSUFCU.
