And the fact that they only scored one goal.
Not blaming the penalty call for the loss.

Denver really lost because their empty net play was inferior to Miami's. ;)

Yep. Denver was what? 30 ticks away from killing the major penalty? If they would've done that, I think momentum would've flipped to Denver after killing Providence's PP.
NO. 5 minute majors exhaust players. It's not about the 'momentum.' Their entire team was gases after that and probably would have lost based on that even if they killed off the penalty.

if monty was smart he would have foregone a goalie from the start!

you should just be worried because the invite pc was holding out for to join the nacho league ain't ever coming now. they have no desire to lose every game.

UND had no problem not losing to PC this year. That's one of the reasons why we're the leader of the conference.

Is this your first season watching hockey?

Their entire team was gases after thatPerhaps a blander pre-game meal would help with that?

The players who are especially exhausted are those who aren't on a PK unit. And Evan Crowley. He had to be dead tired.

Clearly you've never played competitive hockey.

It's a predatory play. The rulebook has changed to finally go after this type of play and mookie hit the nail on the head - need to put an end to the concussions in this sport.

RIT nasty hit being reviewed right now too.

RIT hit wasn't exactly the same, wasn't direct contact with the head, but it was against a vulnerable player and into the boards, equally as dangerous. Both calls are correct. LaLeggia as a senior has to know he can't open the door for the ref to make that call. That point of the game is not the time to be making hero hits, you're asking for a penalty at that point. Even if it's only called a two, it's a bad and unnecessary situation to put your team in. You cannot target a player's head. Period. Not to mention the rule is crystal clear on the issue.

Apparently it is or he doesn't watch enough of it.

There are plenty examples of teams gaining energy/momentum from killing a major penalty. Also don't be shocked Riz, teams have won games after doing so!

Edit: Funny enough, RIT player said they gained MOMENTUM from killing the 5 minute major when he was interviewed.

What would he know? He's just a player; has he ever posted on a college hockey message board? Geez.

It's easy to talk when it doesn't happen to your team. You guys are right in terms of the rule. Same thing happened to Mankato yesterday and their fans were not happy.

It's easy to talk when it doesn't happen to your team.It did happen to my team last week in the ECAC semis. I'm man enough to admit that the hit did NOT cost my team that game.

So the refs shouldn't call penalties at the end of the game even when it's the right call?
