I don't see travel expenses as an issue for the Irish and travel time would be would be less in the NCHC

It will come down to the TV contract and whether or not the Irish and NCHC can find a way to keep everybody happy
      Exactly, well said.

But the WCHA could be calling the Irish.

Wouldn't the NCHC want to add Notre Dame due to having the NBC Sports contract? NBC Sports is the premier channel for NHL TV, why not try and attract those eyeballs for conference games as well? Does anyone know when the CBS Sports contract is up? All I could find is "multi-year agreement".

The National title game had 700,000 viewers and that was on ESPN. How many people are going to watch a regular season game? 40k to 50k tops. Not enough people watch to make sponsors care. Just stop.

"See, what you aren't understanding, Progressive Insurance, is that this is original, live programming. That only 25,000 people in the country are watching it is beside the point."

Yes, they were trying to get Notre Dame from the beginning. What would have changed?

Fenton has been in contact with officials at CBS Sports this summer and multiple sources tell the Herald that CBS appears willing to alter, in some way, the exclusivity clause in the network's contract with the NCHC.

Then becomes the issue with the Frozen Faceoff. NBC Sports wants a Notre Dame vs. North Dakota final, for example, rather than letting CBS Sports keep it. It'll be interesting to see how much more money the NCHC could get from its TV contract with NBC vs CBS.

They are paying themselves and not giving a cent to a D2 school.

Tipsy is correct in saying that WMU and Miami has additional sources of income through their other DI sports, unlike the DII schools in the conference. Then again, they also have some greater athletic department expenses as a result.

Sorry chucklehead, Bowling Green made over $4 million in football last season. I don't see hockey pulling in that much.

Try not speaking in absolutes, they're easy to shoot holes into.

If Notre struggles in hockey east, they aren't getting to a title game in the National.

                              Re: Weighing Realignment?

There has been a lot of chatter on Twitter today via John Buccigross about the possibility of reforming the CCHA in some manner within the next few years. Certain Miami fans would balk at the idea but I'm not so sure that their administration would due to their travel costs; but the core members would likely be BG, Miami, and WMU. Other likely members would be Ferris, LSSU, possibly NMU, Robert Morris, Canisius, and Mercyhurst. Would ND be interested? Who knows? Perhaps if they can get past their egos. Geographically speaking, though, it would be a helluva lot more convenient for them.

There has been no such talk at NMU
