It is also an appropriate time since the meat of the league season opens this Friday.

The Pios take on the Red Mavs this weekend in an important NCHC and Pairwise series.

DU ended UNO's season last year knocking them out of the NCHC FF and a below .500 season. Revenge factor?
There's no Archibald, Walters, Monpetit on the roster--UNO lost over 50% of goal scorers. Unfortunately the 11 freshmen are filling in admirably. Then there's Austin Ortega, as a freshman 9-10-19 ...well, he already has 22 points and was NCHC Player of the Month and national (HCA) Player of the Month for December. Guentzel and Zombo are still there scoring goals. Littleton's Ryan Massa has been hot in goal--improved his save % to .934 from .899 last year, BUT is not expected to play against the Pios--concussion in practice.
UNO lost to a not very good UNH 6-2 in their last game. According to RedMav many fans left before the 3rd period began.
      GO DU !!!

          Trevor Moore is Hot!
          Danton Heinen is Hot!
And don't forget Danny Doremus-he makes it work
          Evan Cowley is Hot!
Will Butcher is back! And burningup the ice.
Joey LaLeggia, Hobey nominee, Vote here
          Gotta be Hot!

          HotMavMassa? Not in Goal!
Ortega chiles are mild--need to cool down HotMavOrtega!

Timing is right for Pios to get 6 points!
          GO DU !!!

              Re: All Things Denver, XXX1X

So...I tried to be gentle about Cowley a few weeks back. I will just let it all go now. The guy let his whole team down, cost DU a BIG road win. He gives up horrible goals and does not control crucial rebounds. Gee...What did I *specifically* warn about Cowley? Oh yeah...that he will give up easily controllable rebounds in quite possibly the last 5 minutes of a tie game...Well, that's exactly what just ****ing happened tonight...I look forward to Jaillet playing well tomorrow and, quite possibly, both games next weekend...

Also...that 3rd goal he surrendered was basically as devastating as the GWG...he scored on himself to tie the game late in the 2nd period, good gawd...

Also...Cowley is 3-3-1 in his last 7 and 2 of those wins were AFA and CC...jus' sayin'

Man...I want it to stop but it can't, in NCHC play only CC's Tyler Marble has a worse GAA amongst guys who have logged a majority of their team's minutes...

What's the word, Pablo the Soothsaying Goaltender Expert.?!?! Stats!!!!!

A lost weekend for the PIOs, down to 17 in PWR and sitting in 6th in NCHC. Really have to start sweeping some series to get back in this thing. Need to start this weekend at home against SCSU.

Nick Shore called up to LA!!!!

Only 13? They're very lucky it wasn't further. I watched that game Friday thinking about how well they were playing in the game, then they started collapsing in every way possible.

Just shocking. The bla.e lies on the goaltender to start yes, but everyone has to share the blame here.

If it makes DU fan feel any better, I thought the first period of Friday night's game was as good a period of hockey as I have seen played against us all season. Impressive. In fact, even more impressive was the first half of the 2nd period. After Coach Blais called that timeout in the 2nd, though, it almost looked like the two teams switched uniforms.

This has to have been a tough weekend to be a DU fan.

I know. In 18+ seasons of UNO hockey, with, frankly, middling results, we have been on the same end of more weekends like the one you guys just had than I want to recall.

It's just "this" kind of league. The margin for error is THAT razor thin. Not much would have had to have changed for DU to have left town last weekend with a sweep.

Think we'd like to end up playing DU in the conference tourney this year, with home ice, with the memory of how close this series was and in light of what happened last season in the tourney, that plenty of guys on both teams remember?

                              Nope.
