This has to have been a tough weekend to be a DU fan.

I know. In 18+ seasons of UNO hockey, with, frankly, middling results, we have been on the same end of more weekends like the one you guys just had than I want to recall.

It's just "this" kind of league. The margin for error is THAT razor thin. Not much would have had to have changed for DU to have left town last weekend with a sweep.

Think we'd like to end up playing DU in the conference tourney this year, with home ice, with the memory of how close this series was and in light of what happened last season in the tourney, that plenty of guys on both teams remember?

    Nope.

I definitely give UNO credit, but there can be no excuses for ****ing away a 3-0 lead. You just can't do that at this level and hope to succeed.

                  Solid win for DU.

I would expect that if Jaillet plays well tomorrow that he would have to be the guy going forward. Cowley has a sub .900 svs pct in NCHC play, which will never cut it. A .915 is really the minimum needed out of a goalie to remain competitive in the NCHC and that's where Jaillet is at right now...not to mention Cowley's NCHC GAA is a full goal higher than Jaillet's...I am also pretty sure that Cowley has been pulled in 4 out of his 7 conference starts, which is a pretty shocking number.

Drew will be the center with Colborne on RW as Flames visit San Jose.

Monday could be Shore vs Shore when Calgary comes to LA.

That's more shocking is the weak goals Cowley has conceded this season in conference play. Those are goals that you simply cannot give up. I can understand a softie once in a while, happens to every goalie, but Cowley has been giving up some howlers of late.

                        Re: All Things Denver, XXX1X

So...after this weekend, Jaillet is now pimping a 2.02 GAA and .925 SVS in NCHC action, which is good for 2nd and 4th amongst conference goaltending. Cowley will need to get back in there eventually but I think there is no doubt that Jaillet should be getting the bulk of the minutes. DU absolutely needed these wins and his work this weekend was key.

True. Cowley is still a bit raw and in a perfect scenario, he would still be in juniors as he is still young in the goaltending realm...Jaillet is almost 2 full years older. Cowley has a pretty high ceiling, I believe, and will have a nice career but DU needs to go with whoever gives them the best chance to win game in and game out. Right now that is Jaillet...

ASaaG posted a good article about Gwoz on XXXVIII.

LA kings Live mentioned the Shore parents were in LA to see Nick's debut and the game against the Flames on Monday.
