Theoretically they're the next logical choice, but I wouldn't count any chickens before they hatch. It presumably took a LOT of tire kicking (and generous benefactors) for PSU and ASU to get off the ground.

At his graduation ceremony from the U of Minnesota, my cousin got a keychain. When asked what UW gave her for graduation, my sister said, "A degree from a University that matters."

Canned music is a pathetic waste of your time.

Ok fair enough. I probably should have clarified my point better. Where I had heard it was from individuals that weren't associated with this forum (or at least as far I know they aren't on here.)

The plan is for the Sun Devils, who won the American Collegiate Hockey Association championship last season, to play a hybrid schedule in 2015 with a mixture of DI and ACHA competition, followed in 2016 by a full DI schedule independent of conference alignment. The team plans to transition to full Division I membership in 2017 and will join a Division I conference, either the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) or the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA).

There's no way the WCHA will be able to sluff off the AK schools. There's not another conference in the nation foolish enough to take them. Sorry, Tech, you're stuck with that road trip.

There was a thread started about this clear back in mid July:

I know a few tier 3 Junior A players that went out to AZ for a visit after being "recruited" by ASU's ACHA team. They told me that the team gets more attendence than many NCAA D1 programs......any excuse to sit in an air conditioned building I guess....apparently, they have some very good players as well.....but not all of them would be able to jump through all the NCAA hoops.
