Lol love the title. Truly the toughest test of the year. Let's see what we're really made of. #16 Ferris coming off of a split weekend. NMU gets on the board at #20. Ranked hockey at the BEC. Should be fun to watch!

Gotta have a little fun around here

And yea, this is the 1st "measuring stick" series for the Cats... Let's see what we got... Ferris seems to still be waiting for their offense to arrive on campus for the Fall semester, so that will play in the Cats' favor...

This will be the first solid test for the Cats... For the first time this season, they will have high expectations... Time to see how they'll react... A loss isn't the end of the world by any stretch... But if people want to jump onto the ship at this point, the Cats need to play very solid against an opponent like Ferris...

            Balls

Seemed like a fairly even game... Cats just seemed to wear down first

Throw in the towel... The rest of the season is a waste now

Would be nice to get the power play going.

Sounds like the Cats played solid, they just fell short in the end....

Extremely solid. Wouldn't expect anything less for a top 20 game. Just frustrating when you can't score a goal in front of your home fans. Let's rebound tomorrow.

Re: Ferris St. @ NMU: Do These Bulldogs Sign Autographs Too?

Definitely need to get the offense rolling, but wow skating to a 0-0 draw against Ferris is good.

Looks like more of the same tonight, halfway through the first and it's still 0-0.

But... NMU really needs to get the PP rolling. 30th in the nation right now, with just 3 PPG on 20 PP attempts. Thankfully Ferris is dead last in the nation with just 1 PPG on 33 attempts.

On the flip side, Rob Lehtinen is really making an impact in his rookie season as assistant coach. The penalty kill is still fifth in the nation with 25 successful PK's on 27 attempts!

What a huge bounce back win by the 'Cats! Ferris is going to be a tough team for the rest of the league this year.

We'll take the split! Got that PP goal I was asking for from Jones. Nice rebound by Robbie Payne tonight to make it 2-0. Solid performance by both teams. Great goaltending matchup.

This was the most impressive moment of the game I saw. He skated away from the defenders to the area where a rebound could go, and found the puck coming right at him. He was watching the puck the whole time and calmly one timed the puck right back at the wide open net.

He didn't hesitate. He didn't "make sure the puck was settled first." He didn't look to see where his teammates were before taking the shot.

He just instinctively fired the puck back at the net for the goal.

There needs to be more shots taken like this.

Also, it's nice to see the 'Cats out-shooting opponents. Only two games this season have the 'Cats been out shot: The 4-1 W versus Wisconsin and last night's loss to Ferris.

He didn't settle the puck because it didn't need to be settled. He got a great bounce and made no mistake. Terrific weekend of college hockey. This team has an opportunity to do some good things this year.
