As our coach says, the time to celebrate is well past, and the time to focus on the present is here. The challenges will be huge and the odds against, but "sticking to the process" will be the key to this team's success.

Hokydad:

He is trying to forget that since 1985, almost 30 years ago, RPI has appeared in NCAA tournament play three times. In 1994, 1995 and 2011. In each case they lost the first game in the first round of the tournament. That is bad. What is even worse and more remarkable, is that they did not score a single goal .... that is right .... THEY DID NOT SCORE A SINGLE GOAL !!!!, :eek: not one goal in the NCAA tournament play since 1985. :p That has got to be a terrible burden for FlagDUDE08 to carry with him. :D :D :D :D

1985 4 3-0-1 .875 18-12 First
1994 1 0-1-0 .000 0-2
1995 1 0-1-0 .000 0-3
2011 1 0-1-0 .000 0-6

The best way to deal with FlagDUDE08 is to go to settings and block his comments. Saves a lot of space.

The best part of RPI hockey anyway is RPI/TV ..... although I have to be cautious ... it looks like they could have two of the better goalies in the ECAC.

By the way, for all you RPI alumni that hang out on our thread, the Boston RPI Alumni Group announced that Dr. Jackson is talking at the Waltham Marriott in November. Great Speaker .....

Interesting TU article Sunday on the nexus between Hockey success and its effect on the College. Please take special note of AD Jim McLaughlin's quote that rink improvements are something being looked at right now. "There's no doubt we need to take a look at the rink for certain fan amenities and upgrades," McLaughlin said. "We are taking a look at that right now..". Stay tuned my friends.

Nice article .... the new lighting is a big help. The video feed has improved. Nowhere near RPI/TV but a big improvement. Audio was spotty. We have a real life, real world President. IMO best since I have been alive.

RPI/TV is phenomenal, I wish the rest of college hockey adopted their format. Speaking of TV, do we have a game on NBS Sports Network Nov. 28th vs. UND?

IMO we are going to need patience. IMO the expectations for this team are way higher than what they should be. I obviously want us to win it all. Last year when we were 2-3-1 and many were giving up all hope, I stood fast and said that the team had "guts" and was going to be special. This year we are going to have to have patience. You cannot play 8 freshmen from the start and expect anything other than sloppy play and at times, a skating mob. They do not know our system and have not played with each other much less with the upperclassman. We played a good team in PEU and played with intensity but no way is that going to be good enough in the ECAC, especially this year. Its going to take a while to digest those freshmen.

The coaches have proved that they are outstanding developers of talent which I think is one of our big big advantages. Look at last years seniors and think about what they looked like as freshmen. We are going to need to return to full strength and the upperclassmen will have to step up a notch, all of them, every single one of them will have to improve over last year. We are going to need at least 4 of the freshmen to fill in the holes and after watching the PEU game, I think we are all excited about them and their potential.

Synergy is when the whole is greater than the sum of the parts .... and we are going to need that synergy (teamwork) and its going to take time. We have got to get back to being a "band of brothers" ....

we few
we happy few
we band of brothers

The St. Crispin's Day speech is a famous speech from William Shakespeare's play Henry V in Act IV Scene iii 18–67.

This story shall the good man teach his son;
And Crispin Crispian shall ne’er go by,
From this day to the ending of the world,
But we in it shall be remembered-
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;

October 25 is St. Crispins day and at the Battle of Agincourt, (1415?) King Henry V defeated the French (100 Years War) despite being outnumbered by some accounts 6:1, in one of the bloodiest battles in the Medieval Age. We will be playing St. Cloud State (Minnesota) on that day. I think that part of Minnesota was settled by the French ;)

It looks like Josh Jooris will not be on the opening day roster for Calgary so he will likely be starting the season in Glens Falls.

Two news bits from yesterday...

Lehigh Valley (AHL) sent Matt Hatch to Reading (ECHL).

Nolan Julseth-White was released from a tryout with Adirondack (AHL). He'll play with Ontario (ECHL) this season.

In the next two weeks we are going to know a lot about ourselves and the ECAC. There are 23 non-conference matchups between the 6 non-ivy members of the ECAC and 10 of them are against Hockey East teams. Against HE
Union - 3 (NH, Maine)
Q - 2 UML
Colgate - 2 Northeastern
Clarkson - 2 Vermont
RPI - 1 ND
The ECAC got off to a blistering start last year and ran into a rough patch in December but finished dead even with HE. It will be interesting to see how well we do this year. The better we do in non-conference play, the more likely a larger number of teams will make the NCAA playoffs.
