Any info on starting lineups? I think it would be genius to throw Alex in there for game 1. Get the big guy ready for the season. You never know when we will need him. Any word if Cruise and Wilkens are in the lineup?
It will be an interesting position battle next year between Joe Young and Alex. I hear Joe is supposed to be phenomenal.

I don't know much about Joe Young, but I do know that if Jason Tapp recruited him, then he has to have huge potential. Jason Tapp hands down has got to be the best college goalie coach out there. He has an eye for talent and for developing it. His resume is borderline spectacular with Keith Kinkaid, Troy Groesnick, and Colin Stevens as his proteges.

Ken Schott blogged that Josh Juris will be in the lineup for the Calgary Flames tonight in his NHL debut v. Columbus. Good luck to JJ.

Bennett moves to center on fourth line. Colin is the man. Cruice still sidelined. Hurt?

I think it's more of it being a tough lineup to crack right now.

- Very interesting
- Seven Freshmen Starting .... our luck is going to run out.
- Still missing Novak. Wilkins was rookie of the year in 2012.
- Krug was playing a lot at the beginning of last year.
- Did Noah Henry struggle against UNH ?
- Did Roy struggle against UNH?

We are going to need help. What did I do with that bottle of magic powder the Hockey Gods gave me last year?

Just an observation about the six ECAC teams that competed very well last night. I was able to watch most of the St. Lawrence, Clarkson and Colgate games. St. Lawrence forced Ferris to overtime and Clarkson and Vermont were tied until a Vermont PP goal at the end of regulation. The St. Lawrence goalie, a freshmen, turned away 44 of 47 shots and forced the game into overtime against nationally ranked top 5 Ferris State. It was the best goalie performance I have ever seen in my life and given the outstanding goalie we currently have the outstanding goalies we have had in the past, that is quite a compliment. He had absolutely no support whatsoever from the rest of the team. The ECAC is loaded with outstanding goalies and that bodes well for the league this year.

We won but at times it was not pretty .... not pretty at all, but with 7 freshmen starting, you would not expect it to be. At times we are really struggling but we are getting the puck to bounce our way. Their forwards are blasting by our defensemen. Like last year, the upperclassmen have been keeping the ship afloat until the freshmen come on line. Thank you Colin Stevens, Mike Vecchione, Daniel Ciampini, Matt Wilkins, ... etc. We are going to have to be at our very very best to beat this Maine team again. They have plenty of high end talent including two All-Americans and we are not going to be able to keep them bottled up ..... and they have a very good goalie. We have to be ready for another 60 minute knock down, drag out ...

Daniel Ciampini is playing completely selfless hockey, putting the team first and is showing himself to be a consummate team player. Glad we put an "A" on his jersey.

A look back at Jooris' NHL debut: http://t.co/6cLimLzwZY

By the way, it was said on the Union radio broadcast last night that Cruice was out with a lower-boody injury.

Fun stat:

Vecchione now has 40 points through his first 41 games at Union. None of the top six point-getters in the program's Division I era had that many points through the same number of games in their career. The closest is Daniel Carr, who had 35 points through his first 41 games.
