I also don't think they count multi-sheet facilities. Minnesota's almost seems a little low because of that.Originally posted by dicaslover

But I have to figure the recent increase in national televised exposure of NCAA (BTN, etc) can't hurt. I know this is where everyone says that NCAA hockey doesn't have much of a following. But it represents a springboard from out of reach hockey (NHL) to younger players that are making it (NCAA). It can't help but be an inspiration for some.Go Gophers!

Re: Interesting map of Rinks per state and per capita
According to Arenamaps.com, this isn't very accurate. For example, Colorado has 51, not 30. Texas has 53, not 22. Vermont has 30, not 18.

PS. According to arenamaps, Minny has 531 rinks/arenas.

I can't believe this accurate because where I live there are at least 7 hockey rinks in about a 20 mile radius. Northern New York that is...LETS GO BEARS!

Great map. But I would love to see the local outdoor rinks that are maintained by cities in Minnesota. there might be that many outdoor rinks in the Twin Cities.tUMD Hockey

Re: Interesting map of Rinks per state and per capita
Rinks in Rhode Island:
Meehan (Brown)
Schneider (PC)
Boss (URI)
Adelard (Mt. St. Charles/Woonsocket)
RISC (146/North Smithfield)
Lynch (Pawtucket)
Cranston (2, if you include the bubble)
Thayer and Warburton (Warwick)
Portsmouth Abbey
St. George's
Levy Rink (Burrilville)
West Warwick
Smithfield Municipal
Middletown
I suppose you could even include the Dunkin' Donuts Center, though only the P-Bruins get to play there.
Not sure where they're getting three from.
