Re: Massena Goes Pro !!
I wish them well, but I don't think the North Country is really a pro hockey type area. You have your St.Lawrence fans and your Clarkson fans. After that, you have your dedicated high school fans, SUNY Canton and SUNY Potsdam do have some locals who follow them but boy I think its going to be a tough draw. JMOLETS GO BEARS!

Re: Massena Goes Pro !!
This is going to be a tough sell for one of the smelting plants at ALCOA is closing. The only way that this might make it is if they are in the same league as the Cornwall team. Also they better do a lot of advertising in Cornwell to get the fan base there going. I really don't think they will take any draw from any of the college teams and Canton is to new to have a fan base of more than 2. The Semi-Pro team that started in Alexandria Bay actually did quite well for that was about it for entertainment for that area but they moved to Watertown. They are to far from Plattsburgh and Watertown, cities of any size of population in the US, to make it. It can be a ROYAL pain in the behind to go through customs for the Cornwall fans.

Re: Massena Goes Pro !!
I was talking to the Sports Director of the Ogdensburg Newspaper, the Urinal, opps the Journal and he has heard very little about the team going into Massena. But then again the Journal is not the broad encompassing paper.

Re: Massena Goes Pro !!
I had fun watching the Morrisville, VT pro team before it went out of business a few years ago. There main problem was playing in a high school rink in a low population area.
Fans can now go to a pro game in Massena and then top it off at the Mohawk casino which has a new hotel on site. Cornwell is very close just over the big bridge over the St. Lawrence.2009-2010 Last Person Standing winner
