Not sure what happened with the other thread but I guess we move on. 166 days to go until the 201415 -season starts.

Any update on Joe Shawhan?

Should be interesting. Will it be in the Cisler Center?

I see that the Board Admin restored and then closed the other thread but didn't explain why it was deleted in the first place. Oh well, on with the new.

Bill,it appeared that Coach Shawhan wasn't being attacked but Joe Shawhan was and the moderator simply said enough of these insults .

Anyone hear if remaining class will stay or transfer. With only 2 players showing up at the banquet I think the next coach will have at least 3 years of hard treading to stay just above water.

There will be a informational/planning meeting regarding the Soo Blueliners Golf Fundraiser tonight at the Blueliner Room at 5:30pm. Anyone interested in helping out please feel free to stop by!

My understanding is that Whitten, Fogarty, Barr, Metro and Christian have all now been interviewed. There have been rumors of perhaps another interview or two yet. Does anyone know for sure if there are any more interviews? Even if there are, they could be in the next day or two. Perhaps we'll have the name of our new coach sometime later this week.

Bill just out of curiosity if those are the only 5 candidates who do you think they should go with?

AA you didn't ask me but I like what Fogarty has built at Adrian for the last 7 years. I think he has what it takes to build something nice in the Soo. ;)

Bill just out of curiosity if those are the only 5 candidates who do you think they should go with? That's a tough question since we don't have the benefit of hearing what these guys said in their interviews or the meet and greet sessions with faculty/staff. So my answer is going to be geared more towards what I think might happen rather than who I think they should go with. (I don't think Christian and Metro had meet and greet sessions with faculty and staff since they were already known by the locals.)

My gut feeling is that they likely will go with someone from outside, which would rule out Christian and Metro. Then it probably depends upon which of the other three guys sold themselves the best during interviews and meet and greet. All three of those guys have pretty good qualifications. Since I don't have the benefit of knowing that (sales job) for sure, my guess is that Fogarty or perhaps even Whitten has the best shot at the job. Barr might be too much of an unknown quantity unless he was really convincing in his interview.

So that is what I think. Others might have differing opinions. If there are more interviews, then I would have to reassess. And I have no idea of what Kris Dunbar and Tony McLain are thinking about these candidates, so their thinking may or may not be in line with my thinking.

Agree wholeheartedly....there are some fine candidates in the mix but Fogarty can be that someone specially tailored for Lake State and who can bring about the turn around we've been waiting for the past 8 years. So far, I'm impressed with who Lake State is bringing in and it certainly blows away the theory postulated by certain posters that poor little Lake St. could do no better than ole Jimbo Roque cause he was "cheap" and the school couldn't afford anyone else.

Fogarty would my choice out of the finalist that are known at this time.

As far as so many hockey players not going to the athletic banquet is not that big of a deal to me. I am curious though as to which two were the ones that attended it?

It's somewhat interesting to me that so many players missed the athletic banquet, I worked part time for the LSSU catering company when I was attending Lake State and that was an event we always catered, and the hockey team always attended save for those who had already signed with a pro team before the end of the school year. Usually all of the seniors would get up one by one and say a story or share memories from their time from Lake State and it always seemed like something a player, especially a senior would want to be a part of and experience. Perhaps the fact that only two showed up speaks to how fractured this team was at the conclusion of this season but hopefully a fresh start behind the bench can galvanize the team heading into next year.

Perhaps you are mixing up the hockey banquet and the all-sports banquet.
