The only exception to the rule is the Alaska teams, who may start early, but must take an official week off somewhere else (usually around Christmas). There are no ECAC deviations. The only deviation is the ivy league, but I do not know the rules there.

This does not prohibit players from getting together on their own and "practicing".
    Interesting .... thanks !!!

I always thought it was three... or is this based upon a rare exception this year of a Friday game?

Question for you season ticket holders.. Did the ticket office deposit your check yet? My check hasn't been touched and I sent it in over a month ago. Should I call them?

How things have changed, in the 60's I remember the first day of practice was Nov 1, and the first games were Dec 1.
It all starts with the goaltending.

Season Tickets should be sent out next week. Starting on September 2nd you should be able to order additional tickets for additional games online. Bet there will not be an empty seat when we hoist the banners on October 10. That is going to be a festive occasion.

We have BU on January 3 and Harvard on January 30. The alumni office usually puts on a big get together before the Harvard Game at Harvard's Bright Hockey Center and its been very popular. For the last few years, at least, its felt like we have had more Union fans there than Harvard. The school buys and distributes a block of tickets for the alumni so we can all sit together. Any idea if they will be doing that for BU as well? If the answer is no, and you are planning on going, you might want to order your tickets (Agganis Arena at Boston University - http://www.agganisarena.com/ ) on-line, the sooner the better for a good set of seats near/between the blue lines. This is going to be a very exciting match-up, as BU will be much improved this year and we are sure to get a lot of notoriety, given our success against BC these past two years. Classes at BU will not resume until January 19 so I would not expect a big student turnout.

From the Boston Hockey Blog: http://www.thebostonhockeyblog.com/

BU captain Matt Grzelcyk ‘confident in a turnaround’ in 2014-15

Not only does BU feature a strong returning core that includes Grzelcyk, senior forwards Cason Hohmann and Evan Rodrigues, junior forward Danny O’Regan and sophomore forward Robbie Baillargeon, but an impressive recruiting class should also provide a shot in the arm for the Terriers.

Notable members of the upcoming class include defensemen John MacLeod and Brandon Hickey, as well as standout forward Jack Eichel, who has the potential to be the first overall pick in the 2015 NHL Draft.

“I had a lot of experience doing it,” Bogosian said. “It’s something I really took pride in. I think it’s a huge part of the game. If you can add that to your toolbox, it can bring you more opportunities. I’m just going to tell them what I’ve learned. I’ve gotten the chance to work with some pretty good faceoff guys throughout my pro career. They taught me a lot.
“I’m going to try and help out as much as I can because it’s a huge thing that’s overlooked. If your team is winning a lot of faceoffs, you’re starting off with the puck. You’re not chasing.”

We had terrible numbers last year. According to the article, Mike Vecchione was the only Dutchmen center to win over 50 percent of the draws, winning 53.3 percent (344-for-645). This is one part of our game that really needs work.

What Recent NCAA Rulings Might Mean ... For College Hockey and College Sports
                                by Adam Wodon/Managing Editor

                                http://www.collegehockeynews.com/new..._we_headed.php

"Most recently, the NCAA membership voted to give schools in the so-called "Big Five" conferences more autonomy on creating their own rules in 11 key areas. The areas include things like extended financial aid, insurance, paid travel for families, and allowing players to make money from things not directly related to playing. In effect, these changes have already been agreed upon by the Big Five schools. For example, they will be able to pay players the full cost of tuition in their scholarship packages, which amounts to an extra $5,000, on average, per year. As it relates to hockey, the "Big Five" includes the entire "Big 10" (which has six teams in hockey and 12 teams otherwise — you following this?). Otherwise, the only schools affected are Boston College and Notre Dame, which both play in Hockey East. This is certain to increase the advantage some schools have over others. The question is, how much of a difference will it make?"

"The Ivies feel like they're at a disadvantage already, and that's the way it is," ECAC commissioner Steve Hagwell said. "The concern isn't (the money), but the power to change rules. What if those schools say they'll take the cap off scholarships? Now they'll give 28 (for hockey) instead of 18. That's what they're really worried about."

"The concern is particularly acute in Hockey East, where it will create a disparity within the conference. College hockey has conference alignments that don't always line up with the more general conference these schools are in. How will the conference handle the fact that Boston College and Notre Dame will have more competitive advantages?"

So when it comes to College Hockey, the Big 10 along with BC and Notre Dame can now make up their own rules ...... boy does this ever suck !!!! Its one thing to give out a full ride plus expenses, its another for an rich alumnus to hire a player and pay him thousands for some phony job. This is never going to work. The rest of DI College Hockey (except the ECAC) will demand to play by whatever rules the Big 10 is using. This will put the ECAC at an even worse disadvantage than it already has.
