I would not be surprised if Q goes to HE eventually, after Notre Dame decides the travel is just too big of a PITA. They do fit the HE profile better, and they seem to be pursuing that sort of image (rock it in sports to raise your regional profile) very aggressively.

RIT would be a terrific replacement. Great academics and a nice fit with Clarkson and RPI in mission. Plus I think an Ithaca-Rochester trip would break a lot of hearts.

I've got no issues with Q; I just don't think they are going to be comfortable with the ECAC's deliberate hamstringing of athletics as secondary to academics.

The other possibility is actually... Notre Dame. It's marginally easier travel for them, they have the academics, and the administration at least propounds ECAC ideals.

It was my impression Chris was there, and I'm sure Pete was too but he probably wasn't chatting it up in the office since he has to explain why his kid made about the worst college choice possible.

I'd want UVM back or go after Holy Cross before RIT, but any of the above before the self-promoting, unloveable Q-Peck!

Clarkson wins 3-2 and Dartmouth wins 5-4 (RPI blew a 2 goal 3rd period lead and blew it at home again! Yikes!!! ) ...So we get Colgate next weekend from Starr Rink in a best of 3 series ...

            Some tasty matchups:

Cornell vs Clarkson - Who knows?
Q-Peck vs Yale - This is going to be a good one. Yale has to win or their season ends. Q-Peck will be somewhere near the cutoff for an at-large if they lose. Who knows again but lets go Yale!!!!!!
Colgate vs. SLU - Colgate ****piled us twice. We got off to very bad starts in both games. Coaches don't feel we match up well but we better find a way or....
Union versus Dartmouth - Union is tough. I doubt Dartmouth has a chance but they showed some fight coming back to win two straight close ones. Should be good hockey.

SLU ends up 7-10-1 at home this season, but held the fort when it counted most. Congratulations on a well-deserved series win; not coincidentally matched with perfection on the PK (albeit a small no. of "kills" on Sat. night). I'll say it again; we'll go as far as our PK takes us and so far, so good.

We will go as far as our PK take us. The rest of the ingredients are there for a deep playoff run, but only if we consistently kill penalties like there's no tomorrow.
And, we managed to avoid Clarkson again! Yeah, I know, we weren't/couldn't be playing them in the QF round anyways - but we still avoided them.

Well, I guess out of the 3 options, I'm most comfortable with the match up with Colgate. Still a tough task, but I just feel we can get up a game Friday against Colgate, and then who knows?

Heartbreaker for RPI though. Some intriguing series next weekend for sure!

Down this way we get NESN and Q has been on there several times this year. My understanding is Q "pays" NESN to do the broadcast as part of their promotion of their program. The whole broadcast is an "infomercial" for Q as in between periods the content is all about the school, other teams, etc. It is so blatant I know it borders on making some of the Q loyal fans be a bit uncomfortable with it. The last two games included an interview with the President of Quinnipiac who extolled the virtues of being affiliated with the prestigious Ivy colleges and he actually stated that Q "would never leave the ECAC." Of course I learned long ago that you can tell when most people are lying......(when they're lips are moving!)

Well, you have unbelievable courage!!! I'd be afraid to watch that for two reasons: 1) How is it possible to watch that and not have your TV explode, 2) how can you watch it and not vomit uncontrollably to the point of near death? Honestly, 5 minutes of watching Rand and I'd be yawning at the throne.

Just because you play collegiate athletic competitions against the Ivies doesn't mean you are remotely like the Ivies. Washington State plays in the same conference as Stanford but it about as much like Stanford as a cat is to a dog. Moreover, I am sure their President is still basking in the warm afterglow of making it to the NCAA championship game. I suspect they will find out how hard it is to make it back there very soon. Right now the only ECAC team positioned to get a #1 seed is Union and to be honest Q-Tip probably has the toughest road to LP and an at-large bid is not assured at this point. Finally, NESN is a regional sponts network. All the self-promotion doesn't make a lot of sense when 2 thirds of the players they recruit are from the BCHL (which is probably the #3 or #4 league in terms of quality for recruiting overall) and the only schools that advertize themselves in my area are community colleges trying to recruit local students. The reality is any one of the Ivies could spend 10 times more than Q-Tip given their endowments and wealth, they don't. That should be the first clue to them why they don't fit.

Driving back to Vermont from the SLU games this weekend I had a chance a bit to think about this team and the season they have had. As we know the team got off to a real strong start. After playing well out in North Dakota, the team came back to the North Country and lost two tough one goal games to Clarkson. After that the team seemed to lose itself.

In the last month though, they have started to play better and after watching them this weekend, I think the team has regained its sea legs and is believing in itself again.

As for the seniors, the have made some progress in 4 years. After winning in the first round last year and then losing on the road in the second, I suspect they have learned a few things. Also, these seniors I'm sure have a lot of drive to finally make it to the ECAC Final Four. Add on top that if they win it this weekend, they'll be playing an hour from campus for a chance to win a championship!

There are no easy match ups at this point in the season. All games are tough. But I like where this team is at and they can certainly beat Colgate at Starr.

We have nothing to lose this weekend. We should be able to play lose, hard and have fun. Lake Placid is there for the taking for this team and they can do it.

It's about an hour and a half normally. I have been able to make it in 1:115-1:20 before, but I'm not the typical driver (hence the plethora of speeding tickets)
