Where is everyone, and is there already a season thread? If not, here it is.

I'll pop a little thread in just to give this thing some life on USCHO for at least awhile. The website referenced above is good for some commentary and traffic at least on game night, but activity there and lack of it here would suggest that the avid and rabid folk at Lawson don't have a broader knowledge and passion for college hockey in general, and that's a shame. Recent positive achievements at WMU under Blashill and Murray got this program national prominence and an invitation to the Nacho. (Probably proactive support from President Dunn helped that as well, I'm guessing.) While the team will keep playing to a high percentage of capacity at Lawson as long as they compete well, its fan base needs to support the team on a broader front if Nacho officials made the right call in inviting them to come play. WMU is strategically located amid big population centers in the Midwest and a followed program could do wonders for the league, which has issues in being in mostly smaller to mid-sized TV markets. A proactive WMU fan base that pays attention to the game on a national basis could do much to help the new league get stronger footing. The quality of the product is definitely not the issue. Because it is stronger from top to bottom than "big" and others, it probably is right up there with HE as the currently strongest conference.

Nice twin wins over Sparty this weekend. Saw the Friday contest on the tube with the first career shutout by Hafner. And earlier, saw the second CC game in person. Like the way this team skates when they show resolve. It's going to take more secondary and tertiary line scoring to compete with teams that have more talented offenses in the weeks ahead.
