st. Mike's Press Release From Earlier Today ...

COLCHESTER, Vt. - The Saint Michael's College men's ice hockey program will have eight home contests professionally webcast by the Northeast Sports Network (NSN) this winter, beginning when the Purple Knights host No. 3 Norwich University on Friday at 7 p.m. at Cairns Arena in South Burlington. This marks the second season in which NSN broadcasts a selection of Saint Michael's men's ice hockey contests.

NSN will provide live, free audio and video of the games through its website, NSNSports.net, while also providing the professional on-air talent.

Four of the eight contests will be against teams currently at least receiving votes toward national polls. In addition to hosting Norwich, the Purple Knights oppose New England College, which is receiving national votes, on Nov. 22; Castleton State College, which is receiving national votes, on Dec. 6; and nationally-ranked University of Massachusetts at Boston on Feb. 14.

Six match-ups are against Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) East programs, and three are versus Northeast-10 Conference squads. When Saint Michael's takes on four-time defending NE-10 Championship winner Saint Anselm College on Nov. 23, the meeting will count toward both the ECAC East and NE-10 standings.

NSN, which webcasts college and high school events throughout the state while working with such institutions as Castleton State College, Middlebury College, Norwich University and the University of Vermont, was founded in 2006 with the intent to provide local athletes the same coverage as that provided to top collegiate and professional athletes. Among the on-air broadcasters NSN utilizes are long-time local baseball and ice hockey broadcasters George Commo and Jack Healey.
