Post your predictions for the standings of the new league, and if you feel like it award winners, number of arrests, or whatever else you want.
Here is the media poll for reference.

1. Miami (7) 115
2. North Dakota (5) 109
3. St. Cloud State (4) 99
4. Denver 66
5. Western Michigan 61
6. Minnesota-Duluth 43
7. Colorado College 42
8. Nebraska-Omaha 41

My predictions:

1. St. Cloud State
2. Miami
3. Denver
4. North Dakota
5. Minnesota-Duluth
6. Western Michigan
7. Nebraska-Omaha
8. Colorado College

Was thinking Miami is the team to beat during the offseason, but I changed my mind. Maybe I am just looking for justification to put SCSU first, but they return more goals than any team in college hockey. They ended Miami's season last year in convincing fashion. And I think that while you can only play the teams they put on your schedule, Miami won a 12 team league that only sent 2 teams to the NCAA tournament. SCSU won a 12 team league that sent 6 teams to the tournament. I think it will be close but I am giving my alma mater the edge.

3-7 I think is a crap shoot. I think Denver finishes ahead of UND. North Dakota was almost completely gutted offensively. Denver isn't bringing many scorers back either, but I like Brittain a bit more than Gothberg or Saunders. Duluth has a lot of scoring coming back, but their goaltending is bad and they lost 3 of their top 4 defensemen. Western Michigan is mostly a courtesy ranking. I don't know much about their team, but they finished 3rd in the CCHA and Slubowski is good so I will put them at 6. UNO struggles against good teams and gets most of their wins against the bottom dwellers, so I think this conference will be tough for them. They can score a lot, but their goaltending is horrendous and they lost two of their top d-men. CC is in a sad state. Turned it on at the end of last season but lost almost everyone. I think they come in last.

Player of the Year: Ryan Walters

Names on the police blotter: Duluth 1, North Dakota 2

Denver's new coach is obviously in over his head as he can't even manage to beat some crap Canuck team. UND will wipe the floor with them.

The Redchickens will choke not being able to play 73 Michigan schools who are all terrible at hockey. UND will wipe the floor with them.

St. Cloud had their once in a generation year last year and will be back to being their mediocre self. UND will wipe the floor with them.

Western Michigan is in a downward spiral and will never match their program high accomplishment of making the NCAA tournament two years ago. UND will wipe the floor with them.

Western Superior is so pathetic they loose in a shootout to a crap Canuck team. That's almost as embarrassing as their new jerseys are. UND will wipe the floor with them.

Colorado College will forever be terrible for as long as they insist on employing a porn star to coach their hockey team. UND will wipe the floor with them.

Omaha's coach is just riding out his contract and mailing it in with his team obviously following suit. UND will wipe the floor with them.

North Dakota will crush all so called competition and as a reward its' fans will then have to single-handedly keep the conference tournament in the black.

Prediction:

It isn't impossible that any one of these 8 teams could win this league. That, and Ryan Walters is likely to be a a part of any first team, all-conference discussion.

FWIW, SCSU might be returning 92 goals from last season but UNO is returning 89. UNO just needs to keep the puck out of their own net.

Anybody picking an individual team, and I'll take the field giving some odds against that prediction, and I doubt there is going to be a huge record spread between the 8th place team and the 1st place team. To me, the NCHC looks like an Alabama-less version of the SEC. A lot of good teams with no real clear standout. The closest thing, to me, is SCSU with what's returning and the street cred from last season that they have to go along with it.

Isn't UNO two arrests ahead of everybody else, to date, by the way? As an aside, I wonder how (former captain) Matt White of UNO got along with his (another) former captain, (who, ironically, was also tossed off the team two years ago), linemate Alex Hudson, who is African American? Given what White allegedly did, it makes one wonder.

I sure would like to find someone willing to bet real money that denver ends up ahead of North Dakota. It seems the only one stupid enough to do that right now is a jan fan.
My prediction? The NCHC realizes what a mistake it was to add st cloud, and kicks them out in shame. It then brings in tech like the should have in the first place.

FWIW, SCSU returns 107 goals.

I agree that it is a tough conference to predict, but disagree anyone can win it. I think there is a huge seperation in the media poll for a reason.

Lastly, this is a prediction thread. Any UNO arrests that have already occurred are not counted.

It then brings in tech like the should have in the first place.

Or just add Minnesota State and Tech and we have a Final Five again.:)

There were two jerseys premiered yesterday, NFL Pro Bowl jerseys (http://nfl.si.com/2013/10/08/nfl-pro-bowl-uniforms-2014/) and Western Superior jerseys (https://twitter.com/cgarner66/status/387269464502173696/photo/1). It takes a heck of an effort to make the Pro Bowl jerseys look good but Western Superior did it. How pathetic can a University be to have a lift bridge as part of the shoulder patch? Talk about desperation.

I predict everyone is going to laugh at SCSU (http://www.sctimes.com/article/20131009/SPORTS0401/310090011/Huskies-unveil-new-hockey-anthem?nclick_check=1). It was nice of them to fill the gap left by UAA UAA, we are the Seawolves and we're ready to play! though.

I predict that if the Blackhawks make any changes, UND will immediately copy them.

That would only be fair: it's been the other way around for a long time.

I'm guessing you won't be able to. My and other peoples opinions matter that much to you.
