  • What team ends the Minnesota winning streak?

The Gophers enter the season with a 49-game winning streak, but we all know that will be broken at some point. Which opponent stops their run? If you'd like to win this prediction outright, the first tiebreaker is the date of the game, second tiebreaker is margin (0, 1, 2, etc.), and third tiebreaker is final score. Exhibitions don't count.

    OK, I'm game.

    November 9, 2013.

St. Cloud State Huskies (HEY, no laughing until the end!!)

    Margin of win--1

Final Score: SCSU 3 tGopher 2

ARM, you will be impressed with the face lift of the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center (us rebel fans will still affectionately call it "The Concrete Center").

I am still trying to find the new mural of Top Row, Skeeterman and myself.

Duluth. I don't know which game; I just get a bad feeling about that trip.

I hope to get there next week for one of your games with the "Q". What are my chances of seeing The Boomer?

Good poll. Vaguely recall a discussion on this board about the all time record of UNH. If memory serves me correctly that number is a 56 game winning streak. Minnesota needs 7 more wins to equal and 8 to win it. I believe UNH's undefeated streak was longer, but don't recall the exact number.

Either way game 7 is vs Benmidji at Benmidji Oct 25, Game 8 is the next day against Benmidji as well. I think they won't get there. They will fall in Duluth at the hands of the Bulldogs on Oct 18...Score 3-2 in favor of the Bulldogs....to stop the streak at 53.

I don't think of UNH and Minnesota streaks in the same terms - different eras. Kind of like comparing Canadiens or Yankees of old to leagues with 30+ teams.....both acccomplishments of their times but parameters are so different.

I decided to be slightly less of a homer and vote for Colgate.

no "it will not end this year selection"?

I think that's what the "Bacon" option is for.

I was a homer and voted for my Buckeyes, but we may not get the chance as we don't play Minnesota until 12/7 in Columbus. If others are right, the streak will have ended before our series.

It is still the record, and there is no asterisks beside it like some of the baseball records.
