After all that speculating about what the decision to give Wilson an offer was based on, this was posted (http://hammersdogs.blogspot.com/2013/09/jared-wilson-committs-to-rpi-darian.html).

The rest of the article is also worth reading. Led the league in D scoring...with almost half his total on the PP... like the sound of that A LOT. Great job Seth !

Good catch - my bad. When do we think we'll see him in Troy?

Of our four recruited defensemen, he is the oldest. I would be surprised if he wasn't for 2014.

All three of our USHL players who have games today are dressed, however Charlie Manley is not playing for Austin http://nahl.stats.pointstreak.com/boxscore.html?gameid=2250421. I wonder if he was injured on Wednesday.

But it wasn't the USHL's first goal of the season as Melanson had last year. (I suspect that he had a better celebration, however. ;) )

BTW, Melanson has a holding penalty. Hopefully he has a more normal total of penalties this year.

You beat me on that one, but we had the same thought. :D

When Union signed Connor Light, supposedly beating out RPI, I felt that we were not interested in him for 2014 since we already had as many defensemen recruited as we were losing. Now that we have a commitment from Wilson, I am not nearly as sure about that.

That is a good point, however he could have gotten information from Evan Tironese and based his decision on that.

Undoubtedly they are friends. Wilson just retweeted a Green Bay tweet that Tironese scored Green Bay's first goal. https://twitter.com/JaredWilson27

Good to see that he is killing penalties. When small forwards kill penalties, it usually indicates that they are quick. We already knew that he is quick, but confirmation is good.

On Friday, the Sioux City Musketeers lost to the Fargo Force 3-2. Meirs Moore had no points or penalties. http://ushl2011.stats.pointstreak.com/boxscore.html?gameid=2234300

Moore's line is now 1-0-0-0-0.

On Friday, the Omaha Lancers lost to the Tri-City Storm 5-4 in overtime. Drew Melanson had an assist and a holding penalty. This was the last preseason game for any of our recruits. http://ushl2011.stats.pointstreak.com/boxscore.html?gameid=2266034

Melanson's preseason line is now 4-0-2-2-2.

Melanson's preseason line is now 4-0-2-2-2.I'm not so sure this game went to OT. Poinstreak was jumbled for awhile but it showed Gamez for Tri- City scoring in the 3rd with 23 seconds left.....unimportant I suppose.

It is certainly not important as far as we are concerned. That box shows it as an OT goal, but I do question that a penalty shot was awarded in overtime, so it could indeed be messed up. (How many penalty shots are awarded in OT?)

Edit: it's probably correct as it now says Final. Also since it was a preseason game, the Refs probably are more likely to call penalty shots in OT.
