Much more interesting, much more watchable. I can't wait until we start winning these types of games.
One good thing that came out of the weekend for you guys is that you likely found out who your starting goalie is going to be. The Guerriero kid stood on his head more than a few times on Saturday. Anyway, a tip of the Husky hat to your guys for not quitting after the Friday debacle.

I need to find that post from last year where I put all of this together, but fangers has hit the high points. The downtown situation is fluid over time — as an example, we now have food trucks (including one run by alumni of our pep band).

Oh, something that I noticed: Craig Pierce didn't play at all this weekend. I didn't see the travel list to see who stayed behind, but that stuck out, as well as Brice only playing on Friday. The young guys are clearly going to get some time.

I used to a lot of business in Huntsville, enough to allow me to get season tickets to UAH (in addition to my home team in Denver) and actually go to half the games. I have stayed a lot of places, and the best places to stay really depends on what is going on that weekend or where people go after the games. The three mentioned by fangers are absolutely correct, and you cannot go wrong at the Embassy Suites. Downtown is indeed fluid as Geoff indicated. I remember going to a couple of places early in the season and come March, be like a ghost town. I have also stayed out of town and near the school, but next time I go I will stay at Embassy.

Would appear we have picked up another commitment: http://collegehockeyinc.com/stats/commitments.php
Roberts Smits from Selects Hockey Academy U18 at South Kent School. Unique deal they have at South Kent. Becoming the Shattuck of the East. An NHL draft pick came from the school last year.

Appears to be a big kid and a 95 birth date. Along with Rotenberger, we are starting to get commits from younger players which is huge for a growing program.

Great to see us getting recruits so far out, good sign for the future. Interesting twist south kent is doing there - traditionally you see pre/post teams put together from the NE prep league so they can compete in USA Hockey Nationals. They play before/after the prep season, but there plenty of politics involved in getting on a team.

They list Smits as a 14-15 recruit, where Rotenberger is 15-16 (he'll play one more year of Thunder AAA in Atlanta and play at least a year of juniors). I would love to see us get more commitments to fill the program down the line, especially if we can even up the recruiting classes a little bit. We'll be replacing six juniors in two years (Pierce, Reid, Carpenter, Vanderlugt, Reinhardt, Strukoff), but if we can get it to where we're replacing seven or eight guys a season and can know a year in advance who 2-4 of those incoming guys like me, we'll be in even better shape. I think that they want to keep the roster above 25 to have guys fighting for ice time and have depth for injuries; that's going to result in guys getting fed up and transferring/leaving school/whatever. We used to see that under Ross all the time.

Speaking of Ross, I hate to be the one to break news to you that AJ Baker had a heart attack a couple of weeks ago and passed away. Bakes was a big part of the title years and a big reason that we got kids from Ontario at that time. I know that a lot of our alumni have sadness in their hearts right now.

Downtown Huntsville is becoming a "happening" place, especially on weekends; plus, Thursday is the new Friday. There are actually lines to get into some of the clubs.

Yeah, all of this has me wondering if, should I find a job here, I might move downtown. I guess it would depend on money and where I was working. I'm kinda tired of Madison.
