18 scholarships available.
18 players coming in this season and next, PLUS the current returning roster.
Not a lot of room available over the next 3 seasons.

To answer your question... no, I don't think you should be worried, unless your loading up with D-3 types. Hasn't Lowell historically had that one HUGE class coming in (which looks like next year)?Actually Bazin had done a great job of evening out the classes. This puts them right back in the hole, but a) a couple of the kids are transfers, so they won't be here 4 years and b) I'd virtually guarantee that a few of the 14/15 freshmen won't be here the following year either.

Something I never thought I'd see in an article about UML recruiting. No really.

UVM will be adding a 21 year old freshman (http://blogs.burlingtonfreepress.com/oncampus/2014/08/14/5494/) in their 2015 incoming class. ;)

My fault. Should have remembered not to express an opinion with this many idiots around. Won't happen again.
Why not. We need a resident worrier. Saves the rest of us idiots from wasting all that energy :p

According to Mark Divver, Peter MacIntyre will not be transferring to Lowell.

Peter MacIntyre, 2nd-team All-American in '13-14 at UMass-Boston, changed his mind about transferring to UMass-Lowell. He'll stay at UMB.

Interesting. He'd have to sit out a year, but he would have known that ahead of time, I would think?

Can't find anything else outside of this, so not sure about it. He is an '18 grad from Hendricken. Steven Dumond.

Unless he played as an 8th grader he's a projected '17 grad but I'll try to find out more in the AM.

Thanks Jeff. Was trying to do some research while at the bar last night, so very possibly might have misread the year. Can't really find much on the kid.

@nerevsfan it was a hoax. He's not committed anywhere and isn't likely to ever commit to any D1 school.

Meanwhile...

"Tage Thompson, a '97, who participated in the Future Prospects Men's College Hockey Camp this summer, has committed to UConn.

Thompson is 6'2", 170lbs, and will play for the United States National Development Program this season. He toured Boston College, University of New Hampshire, Providence College, Brown and Yale before choosing UConn." - FPHC FB page

So it looks like mostly higher academic schools with the kitties thrown in. I hate to say it, but we aren't getting those kids.

If we can't compete for recruits with UConn, why even bother recruiting at all.

Right, but it shows you his interest. Fact is that UConn is the top public univ in New England and they have a great business school.

Right now, we have facilities, coach, track record and culture on our side.

That being said, UConn has academics on their side, they'll spin a yarn about buildng a future, and the coach has a track record of taking kids to the pros w York. I am very disappointed about how our recruiting seems on the all-around but there will be reasons one may consider UConn over us. That being said, I would think we ought to be doing better.

Vermont gets their 7th commitment for the future since May. NU and Maine also picked up commits recently for '16 or '17. NU's got a pretty **** good couple of classes coming in soon.

Top MC recruit leaves the school/program. Good write up by Mike McMahon (http://themackreport.com/column-merrimack-must-hold-its-ground-on-nlis/).

UMass Amherst also received some bad news regarding their top incoming recruit. UMass Recruit Brandon Montour to Miss First Semester. (http://www.sbncollegehockey.com/hockey-east/2014/8/31/6089557/umass-recruit-brandon-montour-to-miss-first-semester)

A nice day for BU.

To paraphrase Ernie Banks, "let's recruit two!" Right on the heels of Avon Old Farms center Patrick Harper's verbal earlier today, BU gets a commitment from top 2017 defenseman David Farrance of the Syracuse Stars 16Us. 5'11" left-shot defenseman from Victor, NY.

OTB:
Huge day for the Terriers on the recruiting trail. New recruit David Farrance has mobility, skill on the blue like few others, at any age.
Farrance was our 2nd-ranked 1999-born D-man this July, and the only likely candidate to become #1. Our 3rd-ranked uncommitted at this time.

98 F Patrick Harper (Avon Old Farms) commits to Boston University. BU lands another elite 98 forward talent. Dominant skill in a 5'8 frame.
