What a hockey game to witness in person. After a very slow start and once again falling behind early in the game which has become a troubling pattern. The buckeyes fought for every inch of ice in the last 2 periods and overtime. They finally got that bounce to tie it and then let Frey do the rest to get them into overtime. They had most of the chances in overtime and when Breving sent that shot into the net i finally could breath again. Looking forward to playing the Gophers tomorrow night. To be the best you have to beat the best now they get that chance!

Heck of a win, Bucks! Played Minny straight up, and just beat them. Very even game, in spite of what Gopher fans will claim, I think. Granted, the amount of time that you were pinned in your zone was a little longer, but lots of gutsy play.

Great job.

The play by play guys pis*ed me off again last night with their disrespectful chatter commenting that today the big boys will be playing when Wisconsin & Minnesota take the ice. What does that make us, little boys?
How about some respect now guys?!

Great job. Thanks Alfablue! I was really surprised with your game yesterday. By the 2nd OT everybody on both teams were tripping all over themselves from fatigue.
I really felt for your goalie after Penn State's win but I'm sure he'll have a long and stellar career playing for you guys.

You know I think our guys dug deep for these tourney wins and I think they did it most of all for Coach Rohlik.
And doubters now that OSU did the right thing in elevating him to Head Coach?

The guys play hard for Coach Rohlik and his staff , because he has RESPECT for his team and it shows on the ice. :)

None whatsoever. I was one of the few on this thread over the summer believing in what Rohlik was selling. I also remember many folks saying that we could never compete with top tier hockey programs and would be in the bottom 6 of the B1G. Our boys proved them wrong all season long and especially tonight. I think what we witnessed this season was a team rallying around its coach, and a coach supporting his team.

One hell of a solid 60 minute effort by our boys today knocking off #1. We'll do it again tomorrow vs. Wisconsin. So proud and happy of our team, coaches and program. A win tomorrow night brings bigger and better things for this program in coming weeks.

The Scarlet Liners will again be hosting a viewing party tomorrow night at Cbus Sports Pub at 2280 W Henderson Road in Upper Arlington starting at 7:30p for the pre-game show. We have control of the tv's and the volume. About 20 people came tonight and had a blast. Hope to see some more Buckeye fans tomorrow night.

A win tomorrow would be very nice so we could continue our season with the conference's automatic NCAA bid.
If we do win tomorrow I would hope that Szczechura will have healed by regionals to be able to play. His gritty performance is missed on the ice and as a senior I would like him to finally play in the NCAA's.
But don't get me wrong, every member of the team who have suited up to play in the place of an injured teammate have given it their all admirably.

It's official; we play at 8:00 PM all three nights.Ask, and ye shall receive.

Great job Buckeyes!

Unusual moment in tonight's game: Typically the Gopher crowd is one of the most knowledgeable in college hockey. But during the third period the fans at the X fell short of their usual standards. With less than 10 minutes to play, a Gopher player shoved the puck into the net with his glove. The ref was in perfect position and immediately waived off the goal. Replay showed that the call was clearly correct. Yet there was widespread booing by fans who obviously hadn't seen the play, but were just wishin' and hopin'. We can't know if the boobirds contributed to the decision to do a video review. But that review gave the Buckeyes a valuable free timeout. Prior to the interruption, OSU was almost on the ropes. Afterwards, the Buckeyes settled down nicely and closed out the win.

Historical Note: Back in 1971-72 the Buckeyes won the first ever CCHA tournament. Let's duplicate that feat by winning the first ever BIG tournament.:)

My thoughts exactly! And I don't think this team will ever again go as long between conference titles as we did in the CCHA!

We were just talking about that tonight at the viewing party. How cool would that be?!?! Not only that, but move on to the NCAA and do some real damage there. Go Bucks!

They won't show replays on those kinds of situations at the arena. Sorry people 200 feet away didn't see that and let you down.

I figured it was an early whistle. I hated that they went to review it. Free timeout for OSU when the Gophers were absolutely buzzing.

This is has been so fun to watch these last two days. This also reminds me of 2004 in Detroit when they won 3 in 3 days to win that Tournament which they had to do to make the NCAA i believe. Getting off to another good start is a must against Wisconsin and not allow them to play that slow down game they like to play. Wisconsin will most likely try and be physical early to wear down a tried Buckeye team. Its going to take dirty goals once again to win this game tomorrow. Frey will have to be great as he has been the last 2 days. I hope tomorrow is not the last Ohio State hockey game of the season and I get to travel nest week to a location TBA! Go Bucks!

I understand that you're disappointed by the loss and in no mood for a compliment. But in terms of "accuracy in booing," Gopher Hockey fans are at the top. This includes holding fire when there's no complaint, or when you simply don't know. That's something to be proud of. And it was only fair to point out that the crowd's misfire was unusual.

I figured it was an early whistle.Exactly. You simply didn't know. Just wishin' and hopin'. Human nature, yes. But less common with the Gopher Hockey crowd. Unusual=Interesting.

Obviously it was the BADger & bad helmet fans booing ;)
I tried that "maybe no one will notice I punched it in with my glove" move once in a HS game, didn't work for me, either. :D

During chat on GPL (Gopher hockey site) the general consensus was the same as yours, the "timeout" really helped OSU regroup and finish strong.

Go Bucks!I'm grateful that one of our board regulars made it to St. Paul, and appreciate your eyewitness reports. Keep 'em coming; the more detail the better!

It should also be noted that "investing" in this particular trip turned out to be a pretty shrewd call. Not quite the equivalent of buying a penny stock, but a handsome return nonetheless.
