  • What To Do In Pittsburgh

I have no clue. Never been there, although I am anticipating the trip. Steelers, Pirates, Pens. Great. But where do you go to get a good steak? Or a Pittsburgh delicacy (is there one)? And, of course, a great beer in a great bar. Help!

If you want some culture you should visit the museums at Carnegie Mellon that are a little way outside downtown Pittsburgh.

Go to Primanti Brothers (the original) and have a Pittsburgh Cheesesteak.

it's not a cheese steak. There are different kinds but the signature one has italian cold cuts(i believe domestic capicola) , provolone, cloe slaw, french fries, tomatoes and a fried egg if you want (i may be missing something) but it's great and it's a must. Go to the one in the Strip District http://primantibros.com/02menu.html. The story behind the sandwich is that it's at a truck stop and the truckers years ago went in and didnt have the time and space to eat everything separately like we would so they asked them to put everything in the sandwich together and that they did and the rest as they say, is history.............i believe this is correct, right Mookie?

Also, for Italian in the same area, Lidia's Pittsburgh . You wont be disappointed

Quaker Steak has great wings and the Duquesne Incline is a cheap touristy thing to do during the day. Otherwise, Pittsburgh is blah. PNC is a great ballpark though

You are correct. Strip district is the warehouse area where the trains stops to unload their wares.

If you plan to tavel out of the city center to any of the burbs, allow more time than you might think. The terrain in the area means there aren't a lot of direct routes from point A to point B.

                        Highly recommend Primanti Bros.

I've only been to Pittsburgh once, but I'll always remember this image: the airport shuttle bus is emerging from tunnel... it's raining... raindrops on bus window makes for beautiful, yet surreal image of Iron Triangle/confluence of three rivers at night.

Not for nothing but I've been to Pittsburgh a few times and............its a boring town. Want some beer? Go to the place that sells beer. Want some booze? Go to the Liquor Store. Want to have fun? Don't stay downtown
                              Let's go Lowell.
