2014 recruit Connor Light scored a goal for Omaha (USHL) in preseason action Thursday.

Union recruit Mark Dufour had two goals in debut with the Middlesex Islanders (USPHL), playing alongside Teddy McCarran who had a goal and assist. He's one of top uncommitted recruits in New England. He played at Pinkerton Academy (NH) with BC recruits Joey Dudek and Zach Sanford (Capitals draft pick). Dufour missed on his attempt in the shootout as did everyone else except UMass-Lowell de-commit Casey Shea who scored the winner for the Islanders. Both teams look to be two best teams in the newly founded USPHL. In other Union-related news, former d-man Timothy Boyle scored a goal South Shore Kings in the loss to the Islanders.

Game was played at Merrimack's brand new practice rink.

The past and future of Union hockey squared off today in the USPHL.

Recruit Mark Dufour scored two goals for the Islanders Hockey Club in their 4-3 shootout win over South Shore.

In the same game, ex-Union defenseman Tim Boyle scored a goal for South Shore.

<script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>Actually Scarfo had a goal with 2 assists last night and leads the BCHL in scoring with 8 points in 4 games. Will have to wait and see if he can keep this up over the rest of the season, but certainly is a terrific start. I have a feeling he is really focused on having a big year after missing essentially the entire season last year.

..and in alumni news, Josh Jooris had two goals last night in a split-squad preseason game with Edmonton.. maybe he did make the right choice..

Not sure what happened with the Scarfo stats.... his player page on the BCHL site didn't have him with assists after the game. But it does now.

In more alumni news, Greg Coburn was re-assigned to the AHL's Portland Pirates earlier today.

Call it a gut instinct, but I have a really good feeling about his chances.... a potential steal for the coaching staff... can't wait to see him suit up at Messa.

Agreed. Not sure though if he was a steal. He was a win.... an over aged, western Canadian who turns into a Brodie tyoe is a steal. This is a straight up win.
Had 6 or 7 other schools offering including Hockey East teams, Yale, Cornell, RPI, who offered almost 100% etc
It was a win vs teams who can give scholarships etc
Hopefully the start of wins of blue chip 17 + 18 year olds.

That is what Union has become. Hopefully....

Tim Boyle with a goal and assist for South Shore (USPHL) on Sunday. 2 G, 1 A through 3 games.... also has 26 PIM, including two 10 min unsportsmanlike conduct penalties.

Mark Dufour scored for the Islanders Hockey Club (USPHL) on Sunday. Has 3 goals through 3 games.

Wayne Simpson cut from his ATO with Boston, expected to get an ATO with Providence (AHL) - from the Providence Journal.

Jooris turning some heads in Calgary. http://www.calgaryherald.com/sports/hockey/calgary-flames/Josh+Jooris+comes+nowhere+turn+heads/8915542/story.html Interesting imbedded comment from GM on Union's defensive approach. “We felt like he was a guy that was under the radar,” Weisbrod said, “because he was at a school that played a real defensive style, a real conservative system, and I knew he was an offensive player.”
