One possible alternative to the O.H. is to say "screw it" to the whole nonsense and adopt the Fighting Sioux as DU's new moniker.
Respectively submitted....et cetera, et cetera.
Originally posted by A Shot and a Goal View PostHaving attended the DU-North Dakota series last month, I can report that try as it might to inseparably dislodge "Fighting Sioux" from the University of North Dakota, the NCAA has not, nor will it ever be successful in so doing. As they should, UND hockey partisans will always proclaim their team to be the Fighting Sioux.Believe it. Earn it. Raise it.

I'm afraid you may be wrong about this. It will take several years, but after they adopt some new lame nickname, people will slowly let the Fighting Sioux heritage die. Like what DU has and is going through with Boone, it sucks.sigpic Eight. ....with a design on nine.

Re: All Things Denver--XXXV
I'm a big believer in "Grassroots Projects."
USCHO, LetsGoDU, Boone mascot, t-shirt giveaways, pre-game events, building/supporting the student section, 50/50 Raffles, hockey roadtrips, ect. are all examples of things that have built PioNation into what it is today. Volunteer efforts that have impacted the university culture.
Writing emails to the Alumni Association isn't going to sway anyone's opinion over at DU, but it may convince the administration to work a lot harder to find a WIN/WIN solution to this mess they've created. And no matter what side of the issue you're on, that's a good thing.
The mascot project has been yanked out of the hands of the Student Task Force and handed over to the DU Marketing & Communications Department to see if they can get the project moving forward.
Now DU has sent the email to the alumni to presumably "test the temperature of the water." The choice is clear, reply to the email and voice your opinion, or stick your head in the sand and let them come up with their "Flub-A-Dub."Last edited by dggoddard; 03-21-2013, 02:35 PM.

This is a conversation I would much prefer to have on the blog. But you know why that's not happening.Last edited by Old Pio; 03-21-2013, 08:28 PM.2011 Poser of the Year & Pulitzer Prize winning machine gunner.
