I love it when people try and measure the implications of the conference realignment before it has even happened. It is such a desperate ploy and gives me a good chuckle every time.

Let's revisit this in 5-10 years. I'll be happy to serve you some crow

Isn't that what you are doing by assuming that the big ten is going to be super successful in 5-10 years?

Are the schools going to be getting bigger? Because they are big now and they aren't winning.

This year they aren't. Correct. Are you suggesting that we should base all long-term prognosises on a single year sample size? Or would you like to cherry pick a different time frame?

                  LOL. You nailed him.

My original point was clear but was certainly lost on him.

The Big 10 schools are, collectively, having a very poor year compared to those schools entering the National Collegiate HC next season. Other than Minnesota and Wisconsin, the CCHA schools and Penn State are not even mediocre. Michigan and Michigan State have fallen off the cliff. Ohio State and Penn State have never been prominent in hockey and both are scandal-plagued at present. Minnesota is having a banner year while Wisconsin is an average team. They are NOT going to be the SEC-equivalent of hockey in their kick-off year. On the other hand, the NCHC schools are having a great pre-NCHC year and COULD be the SEC-equivalent of hockey in their kick-off year.

This is NOT something the high and might Big 10 anticipated or desired.

If I were a talented player trying to decide which school to attend ... which conference would be more attractive? Which conference has more coaches that the NHL respects? Where are more of the top-end players going? For perspective, Ohio State and Penn State are nothing more than the Alaska-Anchorage and Michigan Tech. And that's 1/3 of the new Big 10 conference. It doesn't matter that they have 50,000 more students on campus.

No, not really. I am making a projection based factors other than current conference standings. Good day sir.

I'd pick the big name schools with a decent TV contract and nearly unlimited resources

Sorry, but no more suckling at UMN's *** for UND

                        Re: Big 10 HC Rules

Obsess much? You really need to come to grips with the fact that you will need to compare the Whioux to the Gophers from a distance.

Mookie--Hockey East wasn't included because the Gophers aren't in HE.

If you want to compare conferences just show the records between them. Otherwise you are just showing your obsession more clearly.
Bottom Line: If you deserve to win the national championship then don't worry about who you play, when, and where. Just keep winning.
Exception: You are right about the refs. They, no doubt, have it in for <insert your team name here>!
