Unfortunately for the Plattsburgh haters they beat Middlebury and Hamilton this week. Utica lost, Wisconsin-Eau Claire has lost or tied 4 of the last 6. All of a sudden the NESCAC is playing poorly while beating up on each other, and it looks like their second team into the tourney slip past them. Babson will lose several more times down the road, their schedule is too tough. So that leaves Utica/Manhattanville or Plattsburgh, and Utica plays Hobart and Manhattanville 3 times each, Neumann and Manhattanville are both in similar boats.

Plattsburgh may or may not lose to Oswego in the final game of the year, and only 8 games left. They are probably looking at 1 more loss between Oswego and Geneseo.

They will be in four weeks from now.

I hope you're right. I have my doubts though. Plattsburgh may have to win the SUNYAC tourney as our OOC record of 5-4 is just so-so and we lack a bunch of "good wins". The Castleton & Amherst losses really hurt, but you've got to keep playing. I'm sure that's what they'll do and it very well could pay off. As always, teams come back to the pack and we are seeing things tighten up. It should be a great finish !!

                Re: January 14th Poll Speculations

Id put Plattsburgh in the same category as the NY Giants were the last week of football.....needs to keep winning and get some help. Two things to keep in mind, Plattsburgh would at best be 20-6-1. Your now asking teams like Hobart and Utica to lose 4-6 more games this year. That's tough. The Middlebury win is nice but im not seeing Middlebury a ranked team. Williams on the other hand was huge win. A loss or tie would have been crushing. The Cortland win over Utica was big as well as long as Plattsburgh wins out.

                  Re: January 14th Poll Speculations

The key if it's close is Record vs. Ranked and right now we are probably 2-4 as I see it. I think Oswego and Williams are safe bets to be ranked. We might want to hope Geneseo falls out. My gut says Castleton will be ranked, so we have Oswego & Williams wins and Norwich, Amherst, Geneseo & Castleton as losses. St. Thomas has an outside chance at rankdom.

We always have the possibility of the SUNYAC tourney, but somehow need to win home ice. The finale against Oswego could very well determine that as well as getting us another win vs. ranked. I hate to look past our conference sked coming up as they all play us tough these days .Amherst and Castleton losses were costly. Even one win there would've put us in a better place.

                    Re: January 14th Poll Speculations

I think that you are right about a lot of this. With Williams their schedule is brutal, Bowdoin, Babson, Trinity, Middlebury twice, Amherst. That is a brutal gauntlet, I bet they lose at least another 2. Plattsburgh needs to keep winning, but Williams has to lose another 2 games. We need hobart to keep winning, and Utica + Manhattanville + Neumann beat the crap out of each other - which should happen assuming no one other than Hobart runs the table. Things should fall into the place.

Well come on now, we are are talking about a team that leads the nation with a total of NINE short handed goals - three times the measly number scored by Norwich and St. Norbert and they scored not one, but TWO short handed goals while shutting out Utica the number 1 team in the country in attendance.
