This deserves it's own thread. With 922 wins and Ron Mason at 924 soon we will see Jerry York become the winningest coach of all time in college hockey. Likely he will reach 1000 wins someday if he stays on at BC for a few more years. What an amazing coaching career. Only 10 have even reached the 600 win mark. While some may look at his overall win percentage as not being spectacular, he still ranks high at .616 making that 33rd all time as well. One thing that must be taken into consideration is that he wins at the right time and that he is willing to test the combinations early in seasons at the expense of wins to get the right team on the ice when it counts most. Wouldn't it be something if it comes at home against BU? But for that to happen tough wins must come against Dartmouth and at BU first.

Don't forget that the winning percentage is lessened by having spent 15 yrs at a non-traditional power, Bowling Green, where he had several losing seasons. Of course he also led them to a National title, but is there much doubt that if he spent those 15 yrs at a Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Michigan State, BC, BU etc. that his winning percentage would have higher?

I bought my ticket for Nov. 30th on Friday at Conte, the potential tying game if all goes as usual.

2 very tough games as usual, let's see how the players rise to the ocassion.

I'm sure each and every player is aware of it and the captains giving the message in and out of practice.

BTW, they're trying to get people to bring unwrapped toys or cash to the next games. So if you can, find a place in your heart for some needy and deserving children. I think Milner is one player headmanning that cause.

Just think if York had coached at BC all these years, would probably have 1200 wins by now! :D

True, not a traditional power, but he did inherit a program that went 140-44-6 over the last five seasons. It's not like he had to turn a crappy program into a winner.

Agreed. Bowling Green had won 30+ games the two seasons prior to York's arrival, including 37 in the year prior.

Also, College Hockey Weekly did a little piece on York approaching the All-Time win mark earlier this week, for those that are interested...

The Friday game is at BU and Saturday December 1 is at Conte. The potential tying game is at BU and the potential #925 is at BC. The great thing about those games is that they are both on National TV, NBC Sports Network so all college hockey fans can follow it. BC has to beat a tough Dartmouth team the Saturday after Thanksgiving first. I'm sure BC is just focused on that now.

If any of you are going to the Nov. 30th game, buy your ticket at Conte to avoid extra charges by BU. If BC wins next week, the game on the 30th is the game that will tie Mason's record if BC wins. Then, if they win at BU, BC can help York break the record the next night at BC. Can't set it up any better or ask for more.

Just imagine what his record would be if he started as the head coach at BC...

Bottom of the ninth, 2 outs... "Hey Jerry, you've got a no-hitter going".

Assuming he would win by the same percentage that he has done in his career at BC (win 61.6% of the time, lose 30.26% of the time, and tie 8.14% of the time), and coached the same amount of games (1574) in that span...

970-476-128

48 more wins, 82 fewer losses, and 34 more ties.

wrong wrong wrong!!

jerry would be 1550-19-5

and the losses would be due to jack having refs in his pocket. joe b mistakenly suspending peaves for being checked by a goalie. and some handful of odd aggressions. the 5 ties would be due to matti giving up 3 goals on 9 shots after bc scored 3 on 60 sog.

Maybe my friend will go with his son. He's a BU fan/grad that plays on my beer league team. Face value?
