  • JD - In response to your post.

    1. I don't need to keep hammering home the point. It's self proving. Everyone knows your program is absolutely incapable of accomplishing something only UMN and BU have been able to do (win with just Americans), much less something only UMN could do (win with only in-state players).

    2. Yes, 40-1. Which was a conservative estimate on my part.

    3. Ha! Your fanbase isn't even in the same class as ours, so comparison of that would be futile on your part (see #2). The only comparisons you could possibly make are between the actual programs. In response to your attempts at those comparisons, I ask that you re-read #1.

JDUBBS, the difference is I don't care if my team has Canadian players or players from other states. That's what makes college so great. But, you're really going to make a case that this BC team couldn't have won the national title without role players Isaac MacLeod and Destry Straight? Really? Do they give out trophies based off who has the most Americans/in-state players?

40-1, eh? Yep, there is now no doubt that you failed math.

Do you know how to read? I said BC will never be able to compete with the Minnesota fan base. Do they give out trophies for that?

And if my team was incapable of doing something, I probably wouldn't care much about it either. But excuse me if I don't believe for a second that you wouldn't be proud if your program did something no other program has been capable of doing, and something as recently as 2002 that only BU was capable of doing (and not since the 1960's).

No one said you shouldn't enjoy your team's accomplishments, or that you shouldn't be proud of them. Just don't expect us to "envy" your program. You can't out-arrogant a Gopher fan.

I give up...think I learned my lesson. When challenged, you're simply "incapable" of answering direct questions.

I think I more than adequately answered your questions. You just didn't like the answers. You and I value different things. And what I value makes it nearly impossible for me to ever "envy" your program. Just like my beliefs, and those of Gopher fans like me, make it difficult for a lot of people to like our fanbase.

Yeah, BC is on a nice run. Gophers went on a similar run under Brooks in the 1970's. Only difference is, Brooks didn't have to leave the country (and a few times didn't even leave the state) to do his recruiting. BC's accomplishments pale in comparison.

Sorry pal, we've got the arrogance bit copyrighted.
So you're saying Brooks had it easier recruiting at Minnesota than York does at BC?

Also, what does that have to do with actual programs? We're talking teams, not regional areas/states.

Your provincialism is unbecoming, especially when you inject it into arguments where it isn't needed or relevant.

The Gophers are bigger than just a hockey program.

He is very consistent. Did you know the sun shines brighter in Minnesota than anywhere else on Earth?

I bet JDubbs would believe it if John Marruicci's ghost told him the sun burns brightest in Minnesota.

Speaking of, how awesome would a Minnesota version of "A Christmas Carol" be? JDubbs is visited by the Ghosts of John Marriucci, Herb Brooks and Gary Tinsley. That would be must see TV.

Whether this is an insult is to be determined.
That community is already in the process of dissolution where each man begins to eye his neighbor as a possible enemy, where non-conformity with the accepted creed, political as well as religious, is a mark of disaffection; where denunciation, without specification or backing, takes the place of evidence; where orthodoxy chokes freedom of dissent; where faith in the eventual supremacy of reason has become so timid that we dare not enter our convictions in the open lists, to win or lose.

No, no, no..... You got it wrong.

Coach of seasons past would be John Mariucci, coach of seasons present would be Don Lucia, and coach of seasons future would be whomever we want because we can lure your coach away at any time

The TV contract angle I can certainly see, but think that also gets back to the general point that it's sad that an awesome, rad program like BC that everyone should "envy" has so few fans and so few interested in it that a TV contract earlier was unfeasible.

                              Pure sadness.
