  • Re: All Things Denver XXXIII

Is anyone else annoyed that the Exhibition game is not included in the Season Tixs? Also, why is there not a Denver Cup this year?

The Denver Cup died because of all the upheaval in college hockey. There's going to be so many nonconference games to fill between the Big 10, NCHC & WCHA and not enough schools willing to spend the money to travel out west.

With all the new conferences starting, schools were no longer willing to come out to Denver without a either a reciprocal visit or a cash payday. In the past DU would provide approx. 20-25 airfares, but that's no longer enough.

Ok, the Denver Cup makes sense. The lack of the exhibition game in the season tickets does not.

Wow, I just took a look at the away schedule for the first time. Not a single non-conference away game. Did we make a deal with these schools for them just to come here or are we going to have a bunch of away non-conference games in the next few years.

Brittain, Torf, and Carr--3 of USCHO's Top 10 goalies will be playing at Magness the weekend of Oct. 19 and 20.
DU's offense will get tested that 1st weekend.

(Too bad Jussi didn't get a mention for his role last year in Brittain's absence.)

                All American Prospects game

DU recruit Will Butcher was paired with Seth Jones for most of the game. Will got a nice notice from Chris Peters.
Dakota Mermis was paired with DU recruit Gage Ausmus. They were +4 for the game. Tops in that categoty.
Make sure and check out the total stats after the jump. Gage Ausmus in Top 10 a number of times.

DU owes Cornell a visit next year.

We'll probably owe BU and/or UNH a visit in the future, but maybe not. BU was supposed to be out for the Hall of Fame Game that fell through when DU landed the Debate. UNH & Yale were coming out for the Denver Cup but it was cancelled so they switched the dates around.

In the future we're going to play Air Force twice a season probably home and home each year.

University of Denver alumnus Alex Demopoulos was Colorado’s sixth-round selection (53rd overall). The 5’10”, 190-pound forward graduated in June as the Pioneers’ all-time leader in career assists (82), and is third in school history in points (176).

MLL is outdoor, NLL is indoor. Many of the same players.

                                Chris Peters reviewing the USHL.
DU recruit Trevor Moore is in his 2nd year with Tri-City and is still the youngest player on the roster.
Trevor Moore and Garret Gamez could be big time scorers for this team,Tri-City Storm, despite their relative youth for the league and both should receive NHL Draft consideration.
