Julie Robenhymer looking at potential Hobey candidates. Commenting on the group that would have been in the mix if they hadn't gone pro--Drew Shore and Jason Zucker.

But for this year...

I'd say he's a long shot, unless the Pios greatly exceed expectations this year. Still, always nice to see one of the good guys get some positive media strokes.

Not entirely sure. But I think we can all agree on who #3 is. It's too bad. It may be Adam was not going to live up to expectations under any circumstances. But he's been dealt a bad hand. I empathize with him.

Nice story about Drew Shore. But it didn't tell us whether 13 yr. old Baker has committed to DU yet. ;)http://panthers.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=640548

Maybe we could all chip in and buy the kid a car. Would the NC$$ be suspicious of a 13-year old driving a Prius?

Yay John Ryder! Like the Chambers interview said, if he stays healthy and becomes somewhat of a good fighter, the AHL fans will LOVE him! If bulldozers wore ice skates.... they would look like Johnny. God help whoever is in his path. Those fans are going to see alot of opponents skates pointed towards the rafters

What a terrific analysis! Reminded me of an incident in what used to be called the Hilltopper game: varsity against freshmen and alumni. The big name on the team that year was all-American defenseman Wayne Smith. Early on, a red headed, rawboned freshman defenseman from Saskatoon skated over to Wayne and cross checked him into the 3rd row! Hello, my name is Keith Magnuson, what's yours?

My next door neighbor used to be Paul Jerrard - who's now the Asst Coach in Dallas for the Stars; we usually go see him after the game when they're here playing the Avalanche... I just sent Paul an email telling him ALL bout Ryder :)

More about Ryder...
Mike Chambers was wrong. Ryder had 1 goal before his seson ending injury as a freshman. So his stats were 1-21-22.

The BIG stat---965 hits in 4 years. 168-241-347-209
As a RS frosh finished 2nd in hits to the Captain, JP Testwuide. Led in number of hits the last 3 years. Played in 30 or 32 games in 3 of 4 years. Played 42 games as a junior.

Here's hoping our Big Yellow Truck is a Big Hit in Austin!

BTW, last year Scott Mayfield had 118 hits and Josiah Didier 115 for 3rd and 4th place in the hit parade.

In case you missed it, nhl.com has been listing the best players alphabetically Hall of Famer Glenn Anderson was the runner up for "A".

Runner-up: Glenn Anderson

Though overshadowed by some of his teammates during the dynasty years of the Edmonton Oilers, the Hall of Famer scored 499 goals and won six Stanley Cups -- five with the Oilers and another in 1994 with the New York Rangers.

Anderson led DU in scoring his first and last year at DU. 41GP 26-29-55 in the 1978-79 season.

Only 42 players in history with 500 or more goals, Glenn is at #43 all time. The Great One by far leads with 894 goals, 93 more than Gordie Howe at #2 and 153 more than Brett Hull at #3. Only 3 active players with 500 or more goals: Jagr and Selanne at #'s11 and 12 and Iginla at #35. No other current players are within 50 of 500. Maybe Glenn should suit up for one more game to get #500. :)
