In case you haven't noticed, DU Women's Golf is ahead by 12 strokes in the SBC tournament. A win tomorrow would be DU's 9th conscutive title.
In SBC tennis , DU men are seeded @1 and the Women are seeded #2. Spring sports must be catching on.

Upgrades to arenas not named Madison Square or Boston Garden rarely, if ever, work. Its the oldest con in the griftting business known as sports ownership. Team becomes semi-successful, ownership can't make a profit because of building, taxpayers get hit-up for a new arena.

The Coliseum is a spectacular hockey venue! It has the rowdy feel of the Old Barn rather than the snootiness of Ritchie. Itís been host to the Denver Mavericks, Denver Invaders, Denver Spurs, Denver Rangers and let us not forget the Denver Pioneers!

The Coliseum was like a rink of last resort. When the old barn was declared uninhabitable and possibly when Ritchie was being built. Much better fit for the rodeo.

Does Hakstol's extension put more pressure on DU to Give Gwoz a new contract?

Does Hakstol's extension put more pressure on DU to Give Gwoz a new contract?I wouldn't think so.

Now if UND fired Hakstol that would put tremendous pressure on DU for obvious reasons.

What is Gwoz's base?

Gwozdecky is under contract through 2014 with a base salary "between $200,000 and $250,000," according to his agent, Leigh Augustine.

Supposedly DU is working on long term deals for Gwozdecky & Tierney.

Interesting. My guess is that Gwoz would get bumped up to Hakstol-like numbers (read: $300k base)...or at the very least should get bumped up.

Interesting. My guess is that Gwoz would get bumped up to Hakstol-like numbers (read: $300k base)...or at the very least should get bumped up.I believe the original ten-year deal was signed in 2002 and then was renegotiated/bumped-up in 2004 after the Natty.

Reportedly the contract featured a large annuity that comes due after the 10th year or conclusion of the contract. It was designed that way so that he wouldn't be tempted to jump ship if a job like Minnesota, Wisconsin or Michigan State opened up. Turned out to be a smart deal on DUs part.

And like any 10 year contract in sports, the deal looks pretty one sided in today's dollars.

Nice. Gwoz deserves to be one of the top 5 paid coaches in the game, and it would really surprise me if DU wasn't proactive in getting a new deal done prior to the start of the National.

I'm sure that's what DU is looking for.

The problem with the National is you just don't know what the revenue streams are going to look like.

Hockey Banquet is tonight, I know Drew Shore is in Texas with San Antonio and Jay Z went home to Las Vegas earlier this week so it looks like they will miss it.

Seat7 will be there but unless there are several miracles, I will to try to die three or four times this afternoon and will miss this event formerly known as a banquet. Small price to pay so that Emergency Room doctors can practice before they go back to working on real-live dying patients.
Y'all have fun now, y'heah!

Drew Shore had a goal in his first AHL Play-off game. Joe Colborne with 2 assists for the Marlies.

AND Matt Carle just scored the 1st goal in tonight's Flyers-Pens game.
