WCHA Jeopardy 2001 Game Thread
Here is the game thread for the second leg of the "College Hockey Jeopardy Tournament" here at USCHO - WCHA Jeopardy!!! The winner is slated to advance to the College Hockey Jeopardy finals, where Team Merrimack already awaits as the Hockey East rep, with a final finalist to emerge from CCHA Jeopardy later on this month.
The game is slated to begin tomorrow at 9:00 a.m. Central time/10:00 a.m. Eastern time.
Today we will get started with a "test run" at 12 noon Central time (1:00 Eastern time) with a toss-up question worth zero (0) pts. to determine which team gets control of the first selection from the WCHA Question Board. Categories will be revealed shortly after the "toss-up" is decided, and the controlling team will have 'til the end of the day to make their first selection for the initial question tomorrow a.m.
My suggestion would be for all of the players to check out the "toss-up" round, if for no other reason than to synchronize your time with the time stamp at USCHO. The plan is for me to post questions every hour ON THE HOUR between 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Central time from Tuesday thru Friday.
With any luck, we can finish the 30 question Question Board by the end of the week with this approach. If we run into any delays, that may get pushed into Monday. The Final Jeopardy question would follow the next day.
You should all have received a copy of the Jeopardy rules last week via e-mail. If you haven't then let me know by e-mail, and I'll send it out to you ASAP.
I will post the list of players to the thread in a few minutes ...
Good Luck to all, and enjoy the game!!

Just a reminder that any edited answers are deemed automatically incorrect.
You guys are all on the honor system when it comes to (NOT) removing your own answers. But if I'm alerted to stuff like that, I'll have to take punitive measures to make sure we play this one "fair and square", OK??

Two quick notes:
(1) I've got a meeting on the dot of 1:00 Eastern time, so after I post the question, I won't be back to confirm the correct answer for at least an hour. I suspect you folks will somehow figure it out without me in the meantime;
(2) I'm going to send out a five (5) minute advanced e-mail "warning" message this time. I'd like to get some feedback on how quickly it reaches you, so we can figure out if this is helpful, useless or something we should adjust down to a smaller gap.

Toss-up question for zero (0) points and initial control of the board:
What is the name of the facility where the University of Denver plays its home games?

Correct answer: Magness Arena. So control of the initial question selection, as you folks have already surmised, goes to Team Bucky.
((( Randy - you gonna be a troublemaker, oops ... I mean *purist* like this for the rest of the game?? Jee-zus ... )))
I'd be interested in getting more feedback on how the warning e-mail went. I'm giving serious thought to not using it at all, but I'll wait for more thoughts on the subject.
And yes, you have to answer within five (5) minutes of the question's time stamp for it to count.
Now, here are the six (6) WCHA Jeopardy categories ...
Wild Wild West
'Keeping the Faith
North to Alaska
Rocky Mountain High
College Hockey Dark Ages
The Show
I'm sure my buddy Jim W will be along soon to post his handy-dandy Jeopardy question board to show the players what's left, but for now the ball is in Team Bucky's court.
Their first question selection is due by the end of the day on this thread.
