I understand the Puckheads will be at the Yost (and I mean that in the least kind way) of the WCHA, Magness Arena. Go Cats! Eat the Turkeys!
Also, Enrico Blasi has learned to tie a tie for his team's debut in the NIT; his trademark turtlenecks have stayed home.
Go RedThings!

All right, 'Cats, let's go! Phil and I are in "Denver", and though we have not made a visit to the Pepsi Center yet, we have found that it's a nice town. Right, Phil? The "drive" was a tad bit harrowing, but we had a good time. Also we managed to go through Omaha. Nice town. Maybe, if we get lucky and find some tickets, we can watch our CCHA brethren at the BullPen on the way home.
Things to look for in tonight's games: Corey-Joe Ficek of UNH had 2 goals and an assist in the Wildcats 7-2 win earlier this season. Other Wildcats to look for: Lanny Gare, who has 2 goals this season against the RedHawks, and Darren and Jeff Haydar who have combined for 3 points in their 2 matchups with Miami.
Also: David Burleigh has a rather lackluster .765 saves percentage against UNH.
For NMU-Denver: Denver defeated NMU 4-3 in 1980 in the DU program's 1000th game. This is NMU's first game against Denver since the Wildcats returned to the CCHA in 1997.
I can't wait to see tonight's games and wish the best of luck to all teams involved.
From "Denver",

Well the party has already started down here in Denver. Now if only we can get WWW to be the N. Me and our companion already have the M and U covered all made the trip from Marquette?
The drive was great. Me and her took turns drving. I found another answer to my question, my car gets to 120 and then starts to shake really bad. All three of us are having fun. See ya in a couple.
Go Wildcats.
Phil

And a thread about a mythical tournament stays on the hockey side of the board while relevant BC threads are unceremoniously closed and/or moved to the community board ...
there is no god!

Oh yeah, and btw, I find Denver to be a nice town, I really do. The air sucks, the Broncos and Avs suck, and everything else sucks. Why wasnt this game in Marquette?
Just a litle bit til face off, and I'm already partying. All three of us are tailgating, its a nice building, but I prefer the BEC.

UM_34, see the NIT Selection show thread. The first-round pairings were posted there. I believe the committee will be planning the semifinal games after this round is complete, allowing for reseeding to get more favorable matchups.

I'm hoping for a miami vs. Denver matchup for a terrific former pupil vs. mentor matchup.
Enrico Blasi played for George Gwozdecky at Miami...and Rico was an asst at Denver for 4 more yrs under Gwoz.
Face-off coming up in Durham.

David Burleigh is in net for Miami.
Ty Conklin for New Hampshire.
Opening action is pretty slow.

Penalty is killed off, and New Hampshire is picking up the play and getting more physical.
GOAL!!!
Matt Swain of UNH knocks in the puck at 16:03 of the first on a shot Burleigh couldn't handle. Assists go to Martz and Mounsey.
UNH 1
Miami 0
2:42 left, 1st period.

The game between Denver and NMU is getting started in Denver. There are a lot of vocal NMU supporters in the building.
Dan Ragusett in nets for NMU.
Wade Dubielewicz for Denver.
--------------
End of the first in New Hampshire. UNH leads 1-0.

Let's go 'Cats! Let's go 'Cats!
Glad to see that Comely would put Ragusett in such a big game.
