Post This Week in the CCHA: Nov. 27, 2008

The Sky Is Falling! I suppose I should be writing some sort of feel-good Thanksgiving column about what each team should be thankful for, as I have attempted with little success in years past. I'm sure that there are plenty of CCHA-related things for which to be grateful, but I've seen so much mediocre hockey this season that I find myself being grateful for other things during Thanksgiving. Conboy didn't play against UNO. As much as I'd like to say we hurt his shoulder, he didn't play last weekend, and if he did, I'm sure most of UNO's fans were wishing more than his shoulder would have been hurting since he renegged on his committment to UNO. And nice comments from Comley saying UNO is old. And so many excuses outta him lately about his team being young. UNO is nearly just as young and playing some great hockey.

Re: This Week in the CCHA: Nov. 27, 2008

If the Michigan economy is truly going to hurt and impact the CCHA tournament....here's an easy thought. MOVE IT OUT OF THE JOE! The "downturn" of UM and MSU not withstanding, there are plenty of arenas around the Midwest that are very viable options. Value City/Schott in Columbus, United Center in Chicago, Fort Wayne, the upcoming new arena in Toledo....I realize the CCHA is based in Detroit and want to have a :cough: "neutral site"....but it's time to move if Michigan's economy is going to affect the CCHA Championship.

Actually, it's been only 2 years since Michigan was swept by a league opponent: Notre Dame. Maybe you forgot because the games were separated by a day. December 8 and 10, 2006. ND won 7-3 on Friday and 4-3 on Sunday.
