Post 2008 Midwest Regional Preview

The WCHA — er, Midwest Regional commences Saturday in Madison, Wis., and the most notable storyline in the days leading up to the games themselves has been the presence of the host among the teams competing there. In a twist which had some muttering darkly about conspiracy theories, Wisconsin became the first sub-.500 team in recent memory to reach the NCAA tournament. The Badgers not only made ...

Re: 2008 Midwest Regional Preview

Give me a break. This is the biggest joke in the history of the NCAA. Wisconsin gets in with a sub .500 record and didn't even make it to the Final Five!? AND they get to play at home!!! If this happened in NCAA Men's basketball, there would be an out-cry from sea to shining sea. Plus Minnesota gets in too? with a 9-12-7 WCHA record? You've got to be joking? April Fool's isn't until next Tuesday. I love the college game with a passion, but this is utter nonsense. Let's reward teams for getting in that at least finish .500 in their legue and .500 or more overall. Next thing you know, they'll want to expand the field to 20 and allow Michigan Tech, no offense, to get in or hey let's allow everyone in and see what shakes out! Why not!

Re: 2008 Midwest Regional Preview

It's primarily that Wisconsin gets in on the Pairwise. Secondarily, it is $$. Either issue is up for discussion. But that's the way it is for now.
