Post Bracketology: Jan. 15, 2008

It's time once again to do what we like to call Bracketology — College Hockey Style. It's our weekly look at how the NCAA tournament would look if the season ended today. It's a look into what are the possible thought processes behind selecting and seeding the NCAA tournament teams. This is the first installment of Bracketology, and we'll be bringing you a new one every week until we make ...

Looks pretty sensible to me. Good work.

CC NORTH (aka Magness Arena on the campus of Denver University) where the Colorado College Tigers are 13-6-3 all time against the Denver Pioneers. Thank you DU for building a second home for CC!!

How come Air Force is not in the bracket since they are leading Atlantic Hockey right now? If you did would you have an Air Force/CC rematch as those two teams play this weekend.

Air Force is not in it because not all teams have played an equal number of conference games. So Moy has decided to use the team's conference winning percentage right now. Luckily for Air Force, and many other teams, there is plenty of regular season left.

How much more can you screw the #2 ranked team in the country. Ship them East to Worchester to get BC (basically at home) in the 1st round and UNH (Once again basically at home) in the 2nd round, if they get by BC. Miami went to Worchester 2 years ago, with BC and BU in their bracket.

Guess they better beat Michigan and get the 1st seed overall.

Worcester not Worchester, however, we pronounce it wuss-ter. In Southie they would pronounce it wuss-tah.

With the schedule that Miami plays, they're lucky to get sent anywhere I'm 1010% that the brackets and teams that are making the bracket will change between now and late March, but if you want to talk about getting screwed, how about having only three WCHA teams making it? Out of the 20 teams in the rankings this week, NINE are from the WCHA. That's 45%... 3 out 16 for the tournament would be 18.75%. That's a screwing. Like I said in my previous post though, there's a lot of hockey left to be played.

Actually, alot of the Northeast (including most of eastern Mass, Maine, and southeastern/eastern NH) would pronounce it wuss-tah.

At any rate, here's hoping the huskies get placed in the midwest regional (and keep up their gutsy play).

Re: Bracketology: Jan. 15, 2008

Why did he flip #3 seeds (UML, Notre Dame) Instead of 2 seeds (North Dakota, NU). Doesnt it make more sense for ND to go to the upper midwest over the Northeast, and NU stay inthe northeast? Why would #3's stay closer to home?

(The fact I am a NU fan has nothing to do with my question, other than it's whY i read the article)

Nick Papagiorgio: I was originally going to bring the family to the (Easter egg hunt) in UNH's trophy case but it was canceled as there was nothing to hide the eggs behind and it would have been too easy for the kids... (even easier than playing UNH in the postseason).

Re: Bracketology: Jan. 15, 2008

dead rabbits...

Miami's schedule although not the best is no push over either. They're 22-3, they play in the CCHA (Last time I looked its still one of the top three conferences - MSU are the defending champs) and beat Vermont twice, RPI twice on the road, St. Cloud and beat Michigan State (remember defending NCAA champs) twice in Michigan...They split with ND and have two with Michigan in early Feb...T

wo years ago they were a 2 seed and had to play in Wuss-tah with BU and BC and last year they were sent to Manchester to play UNH (who they beat) and then BC again. I think the commitee should look where a team has played over the last few years and not just keep sending them away from neat by year after year. Why do you think Michigan was in the Frozen Four every year in the 90s and haven't been as good in the tourney lately...(They played all their tourney games in Michigan)
