No doubt..Do you know who else misses them?

The rest of the old Adams division...Buffalo, Boston, Montreal, Quebec Nord's
It was always fun to go see the Whales get the snot kicked out of them at the Aud in Buffalo, which by the way is finally being torn down, 12 seasons after it was last used.

Anybody care to guess who the sabres last opponent was in the last game at the Aud?........That's right...The Whalers!

I thought it was listed as an historical landmark which is why it couldn't be torn down?

It was used for other events, including indoor midget car racing, over the years since the Sabres left.

It appears she doesn't want to go without a fight...

"Opened in 1940, the Aud has undergone three major renovations, resulting in layers of construction and sealed-off spaces where asbestos is hidden.

One of most unusual and time-consuming problems was found under the 10-inch concrete floor — an asbestos-laden membrane, approximately 1/16th of an inch thick, formerly serving as insulation for the ice surface.

“So we can’t just bust up the floor as part of the demolition. We have to get that barrier out of there,” said Mark E. Smith, the harbor development agency’s director of construction. "

Is it going to cost more to dismantle the Aud than it did to build it?

Re: 2008 Division III Recruits List

I loved the Aud... you were right on top of the action, even in the upper deck (affectionately known as the oranges because of the orange seats). Many fond memories of going to the Sabres games with my Dad. The whole place would take a deep breath as Gilbert Perrault would pick up the puck behind his own net and weave his away through everyone on the ice and tuck it in past the opposing goalie. Martin, Schoenfeld, Gare, Crozier. All the great players from the other teams that I saw as a youngster..LaFleur, Dryden, Dionne, Orr, Bossy, The Broad Street Bullies (Flyers), The Playoffs, NHL All-Star (when it was an entertaining game).
