Re: North Dakota, NCAA Reach Out-Of-Court Settlement In Nickname Dispute
I am an Irish-American. Maybe I should protest the use of the "Fighting Irish" as a mascot for Notre Dame? How ridiculous does that sound?
I am not offended by the mascot "Fighting Irish." It is a term of endearment that to me says, "The Irish people will fight for anything they believe in." I feel the same way about the "Fighting Sioux" mascot. It isn't used to be disrespectful to the Sioux people, rather, it says to me that the Sioux people will fight for anything they believe in or value.
Stop the "Political Correctness." It is silly.
