After 8 games played, Brian Pothier is tied with Ovechkin for third in scoring on the Caps. Also, Ovechkin is -1 and Pother is +3.
I love statistics.

The Alaska Aces have been ranked #1 in the ECHL out of 25 teams, in a recent poll. Kevin Croxton is playing on the top line and first PP unit. They are 2-0 to start off the season, and Kevin has scored a goal in each game. They play two vs Bakersfield starting tonight.

TBone - I'm curious. How did you determine that Kevin is on the top line? I haven't even been able to pin down which line IS Alaska's top line. And as far as I can tell Kevin has had different linemates in each of the four games (counting the two preseason games). I did see that he's been on the off-wing some of the time, which is great for showing his versatility.

Also, Scott Romfo had a goal and an assist for South Carolina in their Tuesday night game.

Philadelphi Phantoms roster continues to show Brad Tapper as being called up by the Flyers. I hope that means that he is being paid an NHL salary while he is on IR.
DrD, any word on when we might see him back on the ice? I hope he is healing faster than your shoulder.

EHF: Brad's recovery has been prolonged and there is some question about his return. His injuries were more major than first expected. Interestingly he played two years in Germany without sustaining any major injury but it took only one game back here in North America to get clobbered.

Charlene, it was mentioned in one of the articles from the Anchorage Daily News (www.adn.com) - the switch was first made during one of the first two games, IIRC.

Update - the Aces played their 3rd and 4th games of the season over the weekend. Kevin had a hooking penalty in Friday nights loss (a game they were winning 5-2), and scored his 3rd goal of the season on Saturday night in a shootout win vs Bakersfield.

Also of ECHL note - Texas and Pensacola played a game over the weekend that included 53 penalties (43 PP's). And I thought the RPI/Colgate game was a tad OVER officiated!! Holy moly!

Re: RPI Pros Part 2 (actually 3)

We are now into November and Nathan Marsters is nowhere to be found. After a stellar year in the AHL and even a day in the NHL during the playoffs, I find it hard to believe that he is not playing somewhere.
Does anyone have any information on his whereabouts?

Re: RPI Pros Part 2 (actually 3)

The current AHL statistics show that Matt The Rat Murley has played in only five of Albany's first nine games.

What's the story? Is he injured, in the coach's doghouse, or what?

This link was in an RPI-Sports message from a couple of days ago that somehow was flagged as spam. http://www.sportsline.com/nhl/player...egularseason/D The calculations show that Brian Pothier is the 10th best defenseman in the NHL.

I have noticed that he has been out of two of the last three starts. There is no mention of injury. This is Carolina's main AHL team, I wonder if the fact that he is Colorado property has anything to do with playing time?

Ralph, Pothier has been great from the start of the season. He is playing approx 25 minutes a game in all situations and has performed very well for Washington. It looks like a good fit.

Thanks very much for the information, TBone. I've been following the ADN pretty closely and just went back and looked at everything again, and I still can't find it, so it's either disappeared or I should be ashamed to call myself a library media specialist!

I found this from 10/27:
"For what it's worth, the top two lines, in no particular order, at Thursday's practice featured Olivier Filion centering Barrett Heisten and Kevin Croxton, and Kimbi Daniels centering Mike Scott and Julian Talbot."
And this from 10/22 (after the second game):
"Payne retooled his forward lines and defensive pairings for the third period, and rookie Kevin Croxton responded with his second goal in two nights just 1:54 into the period."
But nothing definite about Kevin being on the top line. I can certainly believe he SHOULD be there, but I kind of thought Daniels was the top line center.

BTW, Kevin's 3rd goal was a kind of flukey one - someone else's shot went in off his shoulder. But no one's going to remember that when they look at his points total, and right now he's leading the team in goals. Go Kevin!

Matt Murley with one goal and two assists earned first star of the game in a win over Philadelphia tonight.
I still don't know why his is not in the line up every night.

Found Nathan Marsters in the Central Hockey League.
I can't beleive that he could have fallen that far that fast after such a good season in the AHL last year.
Hockey is getting to be a very cruel game for the goal tender.

http://www.centralhockeyleague.com/scoreboard/

check the Laredo roster.

That is indeed hard to understand. I would have been surprisd if he had ended up in the ECHL, yet alone the CHL. Ther must be a surplus of goalies around.

Re: RPI Pros Part 2 (actually 3)

Definitely hard to understand what Nate's doing in the CHL. He started the season in the Ducks' NHL camp!

There are lots of quotes from Kevin Croxton in today's Anchorage Daily News.
http://www.adn.com/sports/aces/story...-8287258c.html

He's currently tied for third in the ECHL in rookie goal scoring with 5 goals in 7 games, and his was the only Aces goal last night in their 2-1 loss to Utah. Oddly enough given his RPI career, he doesn't have a single assist yet. He threw a couple of good passes in front of the net last night that didn't find a recipient, though - must have felt familiar to him.

Re: RPI Pros Part 2 (actually 3)

Matt Murley had a goal last night for Albany. He did not play in the previous game. I don't understand how they are using him as he seems to make the box score in every game he plays.
Brad Farynuk is in Dayton and had an assist for the Bombers last night.
Nathan Marsters had a win last night for Laredo. Still a mystery to me how he can go from the AHL to the CHL after winning 28 games in the AHL last year.
