Ryan was actually working detailing cars when he got the call. He actually left before he finished his brother's car, his brother not happy about that.

Look like a team that gives up a lot of shots, so Ryan will have the chance to make a lot of saves...

I will post a news release when there is one...

The "Six degrees of Ryan Scott"...

Looks like Wheeling's coach Greg Puhalski (2006-07 & 2002-03 UHL Coach of the Year) once coached the Fort Wayne Komets, who once had a forward named Jean-Simon Richard who once had 13 goals and 31 points in 26 games during his last season with Oswego. Helps to create some top of mind awareness - and be pretty good in your own right

Keep an eye on the news releases at:

16 saves on 16 shots after 1st
28 saves on 30 shots after 2nd
Has made some real good saves. The first goal went in off the defenseman on a pass from behind the net.
Ryan leaves game injured with 6 minutes left in game leading 6-5. I believe 40 saves up to that point. Went to locker room and the announcer said looked to be in quite a bit of pain. I think the net fell on him. Hard to see.

He was injuried before the net came down, looked as if the whistle should have gone before the goal, no idea what caused the injury. All in all not a bad showing, 2 fluke goals, one of which prob should not have counted. Played well, didn't get much help from the defense, but that classic ECHL hockey.

Will try to get some word on how bad the injury there. Interesting note, Wheeling is playing Elmira on Saturday (week from tonight). Hopefully with a healthy Scott he will play in that game and I may have to drop in on some old Elmira freinds...

Re: D3 Players in the Pros

Shawn Houde of Hobart has signed with The Johnstown Chiefs and has 3 assists in his first 2 games.....
--From Hobarts site
Houde adds his name to a list of Statesmen already playing professionally, including Will Bodine ’06, Greg Gallagher ’06, Mike McCarthy ’07, and Carl Michaelson ’04. Houde will join Gallagher in Johnstown, while Bodine is playing for the Augusta (Ga.) Lynx of the ECHL, and McCarthy and Michaelson are currently competing in Europe.

I am surprised to see that no one has asked about Rick Cleaver. All this ado about some dudes getting amateur try out contracts with ECHL is making me sigh. I hope Cleav makes it straight to the AHL.

Ya because getting a tryout in the pros is so boring and no big deal to these kids, its just their dreams and all. East Coast or NHL its still impressive to play professionally from DIII, so you have to give these guys credit.

The two New England College players who signed with Pensacola:

Pouliot got his first goal Sunday in a 2-1 win against the Mississippi Sea Wolves. In 6 games he has a goal, an assist, and 6 penalty minutes and is a -1.

Mullen has no goals or assists but has 2 PIM and is also a -1.

Excerpt from Local Rag

From the Star-Gazette:

"The Jackals competed Wednesday with seven skaters who had played five games or fewer for the team, including three making their pro debuts: defenseman Nicolas Dumoulin and forwards Michael Richard and Chris Tutalo. Dumoulin and Richards played this season for Elmira College, and Tutalo was Pierre-Luc Faubert's teammate a season ago with the Lewiston MAINEiacs.

Jackals coach Steve Martinson rested his regulars for much of the game, giving the three newcomers, along with recent additions Topher Scott and Russell Smith, plenty of ice time. Scott came close to scoring in the first period when his shot hit the post, and he and Richard teamed up for some nice passing that led to Scott's shot in close, which Devils goalie Jason Smith was able to stop."

Re: D3 Players in the Pros

For those that haven't been keeping track -- Kurtis Mclean has been doing pretty well in the Calder Cup playoffs for the WBS Penguins. They were down 0-3 to Chicago, but have clawed back to 2-3. Game 6 is Tuesday at 7CDT in Chicago.

Kurtis has 19 points in 22 playoff games (4+15), which ranks him 7th overall.
