Prayer & Well Wishes for Erica Killewald
USCHO broke the story this afternoon that Erica Killewald has a brain tumor and will be having surgery later this week. Here's a post to let all of us fans lend a little public support for one of the game's stalwart netminders over the last 4 seasons. Hope the surgery is a success and best wishes on a speedy recovery to Ms Killewald.

As Killer's coach at Minnesota, I want to thank all of you who have offered your prayers and support to a wonderful young woman and her family. Her surgery began today at 11:00 am eastern time.
This is difficult for many of us, as we wait to find out more information. Killer is a strong person--mentally and physically--and that's going to help her. So will your thoughts and prayers. Thanks again.

What a cool idea! Not only the support it shows their friend, but helping others with hair loss.
I hope recovery for Erica goes well; keep us posted.

This is the latest release from the University of Minnesota. It is too early for Killer to receive phone calls, but if you would like to send a direct message to her, feel free to contact me. Otherwise, keep the great message board messages coming! Thanks.

KILLEWALD SCHEDULED FOR FURTHER TESTS
Former University of Minnesota goaltender Erica Killewald (Troy,Mich./Troy) is recovering at home in Troy, Mich., after brain surgery on June 6 to remove a tumor. Killewald was released from the hospital last
Saturday and will undergo further testing to determine the treatment of her condition.
Tests have determined that the tumor was not malignant. Surgeons did not remove the entire tumor during the initial surgery. Additional testing, and possibly more surgery, will be factors in future treatments. Further information will be released as it becomes available.

I don't have a lot of news as an update on Killer, but I can tell you that she had another MRI on July 6th. Once the results of that test are known, the doctors and the Killewalds will have to make a decision on what the next step will be to deal with her remaining tumor.
Killer's vision and balance have improved since her surgery, but are still not quite back to normal. As I write, she and her family are together at a cottage--taking a well-deserved rest. As you can imagine, this has been a very difficult ordeal for a very close family.
Hopefully, we'll know more soon.

I have great news for fans of Erica Killewald. She will be returning to campus in September to begin her fifth year of school! (Her hockey eligibility has been exhausted, but she still has some classes to take before she graduates.)
She saw a doctor who recommended that she come back to school, even though her remaining tumor will need to continue to be monitored through regular MRIs.
I drove out to visit her in late July and she looked great! She seems like her old self--you can't even tell that she had brain surgery. She's anxious to get back to Minneapolis and see everyone again.
She's really appreciated all of the support from friends (and strangers). I know that it has made a big difference. Thank you to all.
